Show January J2. 2004 - The Pyramid - Page Five Best ways for hunters to make application deadlines SALT LAKE CIT- Y- The internet or an overnight mail service are the best tools hunters can use to help ensure their application is received before Utahs 2004 big game application period ends at 5 p.m., Jan. 30. Hunters are reminded that applications postmarked before or on Jan. 30, but aren't received by 5 p.m., will be rejected. Applications will not be accepted in person. Hunters who have a major credit card thats valid through at least May 2004 can get their application in within a matter of minutes by logging onto the Division of Wildlife Resources (DWR) internet web site at wildlife.utah.gov. Once on the site, hunters can apply for a permit by click ing on the Apply online for available hunt drawings choice on the right side of the home page. Hunters who dont apply on the internet are reminded that it will take a few days for their application to arrive through the mail at the Utah Wildlife Administrative Services office. Because of this, an overnight mail delivery service is probably the best way to ensure their application is received by the 5 p.nt., Jan. 30 due date, says Judi Tutorow, wildlife licensing coordinator for the DWR. To be entered in the draw, applications must not only arrive in time but must be completed correctly. Tutorow encourages hunt completing their application; to review pages 10, 11 and 12 of the 2004 Utah Big Game Proclamation; and to call the nearest DWR office, or the Utah SANPETE COUNTY-Clevela- nd Reservoir Warning! The Cleveland-Hun-tingto- n Irrigation Company is releasing water from Cleveland Reservoir. This creates dangerously unstable ice conditions. The Department of Wildlife Resource (DWR) strongly advises all winter recreationalists to stay off this reservoir until it thaws in the spring. Duck Fork Reservoir has been replanted with Colorado River cutthroat trout and fingerling tiger trout. Duck Fork regulations will protect the Colorado River cutthroat population for future egg collection and fish v transplant operations. The DWR hopes that this measure will help keep the Colorado River cutthroat from being listed as threatened or endangered. If that were to happen, traditional fishing in southeastern Utah could be dramatically impacted. Tiger trout will provide for sport fishing at this water, beginning late 2004. Electric Lake fishing has been good but access and drilling holes is tough due to snow depth. The east shoreline near the dam in 0 feet of water has been the best place to fish. White Gitzits or olive jigs tipped with wax worms or night crawlers have worked best. Occasionally move the jig for best results. Fairview Lakes and Gooseberry Reservoir are accessible by snow machine 25-4- only. Fishing can be good near the dam at Gooseberry, with green or white Gitzits tipped with a night crawler. Another innovative idea is that they sell their own, custom-mad- brand-nam- . e computers, made with quality, ipc, e parts. Pedro and Anjanae met in Guatemala, where she had gone as a volunteer to teach English to young children. Pedro was at the same school, teaching computer skills. After they married and came back to the states, they needed something to do that challenged them and used their respective skills. Pedro anended a technical school in Guatemala for three years, had run a business in his country, and wanted to continue in die field of computers. Anjanae continues to teach ESL at Ephraim Elementary four hours a day, feeling strongly that Hispanic children need all the tools they can use to get ahead. Their ideas held enough merit for the financial backing they received to start Innovative Computers, and to let them offer something like a layaway plan for those who cant afford to buy a computer from them outright. Anjanae and Pedro are offering computer classes to the local Hispanic community, most of whom do not own computers nor have any experience operating them. These classes will be held Monday through Saturday 10-1-2 p.m., 12-- 2 p.m. and 24 p.m They can be private or group lessons, depending on the student, and will continue, says Anjanae, as long Pedro knows how des- - perate the need for computer literacy is, having worked at the Moroni Feed turkey plant, which is the largest employer of Sanpete Hispanics. The Meridas wont sell used and obsolete computers, only new ones with good, upgradeable parts and that they guarantee for up to at least three years. They use Kingston, AMD, intei inside and Micosoft parts, to name a few. Innovative Computers also offers business and home service repair, as well as local delivery and setup. They are basing their business success on the assertion that they are trustworthy, offer the best service and good prices, and are very reliable. Anjanae says the three-wee- k old business has already been very busy with repairs and upgrades to existing computers in Ephraim. Pedro and Anjanae have a beautiful, old six-mon- th daughter, Gabriela, who lives at the store with her parents. When Anjanae goes to tutor at the school, Andrew Spear, a Snow College student, comes in to help translate for Pedro, and to do basic computer work. Pedros parents live in Guatemala with his 1 1 siblings. Anjanaes parents live in Manti, Manuel and Korinne Fuentes. The Meridas came back to Sanpete County mostly because of family, as well as the safe and secure environment. She hopes to become a high school Spanish teacher, and Pedro plans to complete a business degree through Snow College. Innovative Computers is located af 47 South jyiain, Ephraim. Theyre open Monday thru Friday from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m., and Saturdays, 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. They can be reached at 6 Adequately funding these programs while attempting to make modest gains will be a top priority.
