Pleasant. by Jessie Oldroyd FOUNTAIN GREE- N- A program in honor of Veterans Day was held Nov. 11, under the direction of the elementary school teachers and the Daughters of Utah Pioneers (DUP). The program was held at the school due to weather and was planned and arranged by Helen Naylors fifth grade class. The talk was given by Gordon Williams, Vietnam War Veteran. "A Veteran is a member, or former member of the armed forces, a soldier who is proud and willing to be of service to his country and its people. "Veterans Day is a legal holiday in the U.S. in commemoration of the war ending the 11th month, 11th day, and 11th hour, in 1918," said Williams. He stated that all should be thankful for freedom and the solders who so willingly help to preserve that freedom. Lacey Collard and Tyler Walker both spoke. Everyone is encouraged to come and enjoy the program, food, and getting acquainted with new members.
