Flake is following the trail his ancestors took when Brigham Young told them to sell all they had and move on to settle the southwest. Nine vie for Miss Sanpete MANTI Nine young ladies from throughout the county will compete during the 1997 Miss Sanpete County Scholarship Pageant at 7:30 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 16, at Manti High School Auditorium. This years theme is, "Come Celebrate With Us." Contestants competing this year are Denise VanOrman, daughter of John and J. Lynne VanOrman, Ephraim, who will perform a vocal solo entitled, "Memory". Jessica Robison, daughter of Michael and Cyndi Robison, Fairview, will perform a piano solo entitled. Tarantella". Nicole Cox, daughter John and Suzanne Cox, Manti, will perform a vocal solo entitled, "Wind Beneath My Wings". Karen Ericksen, daughter of Bruce and BethAnn Ericksen, Manti, will perform a piano solo entitled, "Aufschwung". Amber Dawn Robertson, daughter of Scott and Sheila Robertson, Moroni, will perform a monologue entitled, "Missing Mandy". Alexis Mickelson, daughter of Jan and Pennie Mickelson, Manti, will perform a vocal solo entitled, "Cabaret". Mari Ogden, daughter of James and Carol Ogden, Ephraim, will present a dramatic interpretation of "Malene", from Steel Magnolias. Katie Anderson, daughter of Mark Anderson and Margie Anderson, Ephraim, will perform a piano solo, "Hungarian Op. 39 No. 12". PLEASAN- T- Culpepper & Merriweather Circus will set up their big top for two dates, Saturday, Aug. 16 in Mt. Pleasant and Monday, Aug. 18 in Alexis Mickelson Katie Anderson Manti during the Sanpete County Fair. Each town will have two performances. Mt. Pleasant performance will begin at 4 and 6 p.m., at the rodeo grounds; and Mantis performances will be at 5:30 and 7:30 p.m., at the Fairgrounds. i ' 'Ml v? : & f , J44-- T 4 The circus has been featured on televisions Entertainment Tonight and in a documentary produced by National Geographic Jl 'V Explorer Series.
