Show Page Two - The Pyramid - January 1, 1997 Commentary Merrill Ogden & Calvin Hobbes Christmas reflections I dont know which is worse, getting the Christmas stuff out and put up or getting the Chnstmas stuff down and put away Right now it seems that putting it away is the biggest job A month ago it was getting it put up. The white Christmas was nice I like the effect of outdoor Christmas lights shining thiough a layer of snow. Snow just gives Christmas a little more magic than a "no snow holiday." But now that Christmas is over, I wish Mother Nature would just keep the dam "magic" up in the mountains Let the white stuff fall up there to melt down next spring Our driveways dont need the snow pack Chnstmas again reminded me of our need for two days olt on the major holidays. One day at Christmas is just not enough Think about it Some of us are up helping Santa until all hours of the night. I had occasion to drive out on the streets at about 3.00 am. Christmas Day It was amazing the number of people who were out and about Furniture items were being loaded and unloaded. I could see people through open windows feverishly working on projects of some sort or another I got in bed about 3.30 and had the misfortune of getting interested in a TV show about the Vikings I watched until neaily y Employees of U.S. West front the Wasatch Front, who collected money, food, used toys, blankets and clothing recently made their third annual visit to Centro de la Familia de Utah 4 30 a m Of course the kids want to start Christmas day as early as possible. So you can see what I mean when I say that one day at Christmas is not adequate People need an extra day to recover from the holiday. I Unlike Thanksgiving, dont have any plan in nund to carry out changes for this holiday. I don't think the Sanpete commissioners would have much influence on this one. Now we have the new' year to ring in Tonight is the night to kiss 1996 goodbye What does 1997 have in store for Sanpete9 Ill give my predictions next week. Have a Happy. Safe and New Prosperous Year.... Editors Note: The following letter was sent to The Pyramid in rebuttal to some of the information previously stated by some Aspen Village residents and printed in the Nov. 27 edition of The Pyramid. The author wished to set the record straight as to certain remarks which she was quoted as having said about her mobile home fire on Sept. 21 as well as to tell her story about how the fire and prior and subsequent events at Aspen Village have affected her, her husband and children. We appreciate her willingness to share some of her tragedy with our readers.
