Show Page Four - The Pyramid - March 13, 1996 Snow sees best and worst of tourney competition Dan Simons named may?r pro tem for Mt. Pleasant EPHRAIby Ken Beazer M- Somehow one gets the feeling that Charles Dickens had Snow Colleges Region 18 Tournament performance in mind when he penned, "It was the best of times, it was the worst of times. " The "best" came early when Snow College took out the SWACs third seed, NIC, 108-8The game wasnt even that close as the Badgers put on a shooting exhibition destined for SWAC Tournament history. With the score tied at 10 early in the first half. Snow College s, exploded for three straight and never looked back. Bolstered by an unbelievable 12 of 17 from the three-poiline, the Badgers entered the locker room at the half with an 1 lead. Unfortunately for NIC, the Badgers werent finished. The second half was all Snow College. The Badgers hot shooting eventually cooled off but not before increasing their lead to 36 points, veritably ending the game with 10 minutes left, and bringing to close the coaching career of one of the most well known coaches at any level, NICs Rollie Williams (retiring after 35 years of coaching). Snow College finished the game with soon to follow. As well as the Badgers played and shot against NIC, they were equally ineffective during their semi-fingame against Dixie on Friday, losing 17 and shooting 50 percent from the field. Pat McGrath paced five Badgers in double digits with 21 points, followed by Neal Geddcs 20. During, and after the NIC game, the David O. McKay Events Center was a buzz with talk of the Badgers shooting three-pointe- rs al 3. three-pointer- MANT- I- A low-fcooking class will be offered at two locations in Sanpete County for area residents, according to a Sanpete County Extension Office press release.
