Show Triplets travel home by Penny Hamilton MT. PLEASAN- T- Three little girls made their public debut last Wednesday, but there was no fanfare to herald their arrival. Caidinn Jo, Stephanie Nicho- le, and Annalisa Janette, tiny infant daughters of John and Laura Mower, came home. Born May 28, at 10:26 p.m. at Utah Valley Regional Medical Center, during an emergency Caesarean section, the triplets spent most of their first month of life in the antiseptic environment of an intensive care neonatal unit. Despite being bom eight weeks early (they were due July 24), the girls did remarkably well. Their weight at birth: 4 lbs. 2 oz. (Caitlinn); 3 lbs. 14 oz. (Annalisa); and 3 lbs. 13 oz. (Stephanie). While in the hospital, the babies were connected to monitors. Ventiiators aided their breathing until each, in turn, was able to breathe on her own. They were fed with tubes because they John and Laura Mower, of Mt. "Im never leaving the house again," Laura comments noting that they cant leave the triplets with babysitters or anyone else who doesnt know CPR. They are also discouraging visitors. Because of the babies . premature health needs and sensitive immune system, it is important that the infants are not exposed to any infections. Even a cold could be disastrous. The availability of soap and paper towels is a reminder that those caring for the infants must still strictly adhere to handwashing procedures enforced during the triplets hospital stay. The Mowers lost their firstborn daughter, Melissa, from a rare blood disease over four years ago. Her death left an emptiness that nothing but another baby could fill. It took four years, three doctors, and a fertility drug called pregional to make that baby a reality. Only instead of one baby, the Mowers ended up with three. Pregnancy was risky for Laura. She had suffered from toxemia with her first pregnancy; it was toxemia again that prompted the emergency with the triplets at 32 weeks gestation. As a precautionary measure she had spent the 51 days immediately preceding the triplets birth as a hospital lodger. The triplets were not a total surprise. John and Laura knew there were three babies coming all along, and the last few months they knew they were all girls. They had time to prepare for their large family, but there were some things they hadnt planned on. Such as the fact that they would have to buy "preemie" clothes (which, if accessible are expensive); and that its not possible to have enough of some items like "spit-up- " cloths and blankets; and that three car seats wouldnt fit in the back seat of the car. They had to buy a van. So what do people really do with three ' babies? John and Laura use the two rocking chairs in the nursery a lot. Each with a baby in their arms, they marvel at their new family and remark that they have a lot of catching up to do. anti-bacte-r- three-month-o- ld .
