Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Four candidates are vying for the office of Sanpete County Sheriff. In the U.S. Senate race, pendent party voters will choose between Craig Oliver, West Jordan, and Bill Rigley, Sandy. The victor will run against incumbent Orrin Hatch (R), Salt Lake, and candidates from other parties in the November election. For U.S. Third Congressional District, Republicans will decide whether Tom Draschil, Provo, or Dixie Thompson, Orangeville, will try to defeat incumbent Bill Orton (D) and other parties candidates in November. Primary voters will be asked their political party preference and will be given either a Democratic, Republican or Independent ballot. Absentee ballots may be voted in the Sanpete County Clerks Office during business hours until June 27 for those who are physically disabled or are going to be away from the county on election day. Sterling, Centerfield and Fayette voters will vote it their respective town halls. Mayfield and Axtell residents will vote in their respective LDS Churches.
