This treatment not only helps to keep the needles green and less flamat le, but also ritaids undesirable needle fall. coatings may also be applied, but these change the coli r and texture of needles somewhat says A. Fullmer Allred, Sanpete County agent. Christmas tree farmers usually bgin their cutting season in late September or early October, and continue cutting into early December. For best results with the water treatment, obtain a tree whnch has been cut as recently as possible. This can be done by observing whether or not needles and bark f twigs are succulent and moist. If the tree is to be stored for some time before being set up, stand it in water in a cool place. When the tree is brought inside, cut the end of the trunk off diagonally, at least one inch above the old cut. Then support it in an upright position in a water container. Maintain the water level above the fresh cut surface. Further, all possible fire precautions should be observed while the tree is in the house. These include use of safe wiring on tree lights, keeping papers and accumulations of ether combustible materials cleared from under or on the tree, and locating the tree so that should it accidentally ignite, curtains or other highly flamable furnishings would not be quickly caught, nor trap the occupants of a room or building. fire-resista- nt nt Man Dies-I- n S.L.C. .
