New recognition announced by BSA PROV- O- Boy Scouts of America has created the "Spirit1 of the Eagle Award" for honorary, posthumous special recognition for a registered youth member who has lost his or her life in a tragic accident or through illness, according to a Utah National Parks Council press release. The "Spirit of the Eagle" award is bestowed by the National Court of Honor as part of the celebration of a young persons life. It recognizes the joy, happiness and experiences the Scouting program made in this persons life. Criteria includes the recipient must have been a registered youth member under 2 1 years of age at the time of his or her death. The unit committee must submit an application for this award within six months of the youth members death and the council must approve the application, ; led Applications are available free of charge from the Scout Service Center. ; The Mt.
