Anderson, County Clerk incumbent, recently announced her candidacy for on the Democratic MANTI-- - ticket. Ms. Anderson has served Sanpete County for 20 years. She was deputy assessor for 3 years, 1 successfully completing courses required by the Utah State Tax Commission m becoming a certified appraise: and i currently s term completing b as County C'. she was originally appo met to the office in 1989 and elected in 1990 and . ",d-plu- 1994. She notes that the County Clerk's office has expanded as the county has grown and her expertise and experience has been a major factor in office efficiency. As County Clerk, Ms. Anderson is responsible for overseeing all general elections. She is district court cleik, handling records of court proceedings and filing of couit documents. She is a member of the Sixth Distiict Couit Coordination Team and of the State District Court Committee for Secondary Contract Sites. Other responsibilities of her position include setting monthly agenda meetings for the county Zoning and Planning Commission and the Board of Adjustments as well as meetings of the Sanpete County Commission and acts as clerk for these entities. She is also the County Records Manager. As the current first of the Utah Association of Counties, an office which she was elected to by her peers, Ms. Anderson will become the organizations president next year. She and three other executive board officers lead a which determines policies and directs activities for the 29 Utah effective counties, providing county government for the state. Ms. Anderson takes opportunities whenever available to improve her knowledge of the role as County Clerk through educational courses and certification classes on both state and national levels. Her broad experience and knowledge are invaluable to the entire county. Anderson Kristine Frischknecht Anderson is a native of Sanpete County. She is the oldest daughter of Kay and Jean Frischknecht of Manti. She has attended local schools and is active in civic and church affairs. She served as a volunteer with the Sanpete County Fair for 18 k years and was editor of the for nine years. She has been a member of the Sanpete County Advisory Council and coordinator for the Japanese Exchange Program. She is the mother of three children and has three grandchildren. Fair-boo- 4-- H Wool production sees some decrease SALT LAKE CIT- Y- Utah wool production totaled 2.9 million pounds during 1997, down six percent from 1996, according to the Utah Agricultural Statistics Service. Total sheep shorn during 1997, at 308,000 head, was eight percent below the 1996 level. The 1997 average fleece wight was 9.4 pounds, two percent above 1996. The 1997 average price of wool in Utah was $.75 per pound, 10 cents above the 1996 price. Higher prices offset lower production resulting in total value of all wool produced during 1997 at $2.2 million, eight percent higher than 1996. Shorn wool production in the United States during 1997 was 53.9 million pounds, down five percent from 1996. Sheep and lambs shorn totaled 7.03 million head, a decrease of three percent from 1996. Fleece weights averaged 7.7 pounds during 1997, down 0.1 pound from 1996. The average price paid for wool sold in 1997 was $.84 per pound for a total value of $45.2 million, up 14 percent from $39.7 million in 1996. skr Sale MT. PLEASAN- T- A new bus zone pilot plan has been recently implemented at Mt. Pleasant Elementary School after a study from the Division of Risk Management found that the constant backing up of vehicles before and after school created an extremely dangerous situation in front of the school on 100 South. The new plan will continue the fourth quarter of school. Comments and suggestions will be accepted at the district office or at the elementary school. Buses will load and unload students on the north side of the building on Mam Sneet and 100 East (at the back of the school). At this site, a paved access road to the school will safely allow students to walk into the build- All vehicle traffic will be on the south side of the school and h will operate much like a lane. Traffic will flow from east to west in front of the school in an area beginning near the preschool playground and extending down to the west front end of the school. Vehicles will be able to parallel park and drop students off on the new, safe and wide sidewalk area and then simply pull to the left and drive through toward State Street. Vehicles arriving at the school h should enter the area west on 100 South or north on 100 East. This will stop numerous and dangerous in front of the school. School staff will park across the street from the school or in the church parking lot. Some staff parking will be created behind the school. Parents are asked not to park in the drop-of- f zone for extended periods of time. The key to the new plan ing.
