She said the cost was $142 for single persons, and $382 for a family. The policy has no deductible, a 10 percent $10 office visit and included maternity. She said she was told that the cost would not go up the reported 13 percent that some private insurance vendors will raise and that employees did like this benefit package the best. Apnl IS. W1 Patron presents three concerns to Moroni council by C.R. Truitt MORON- I- Patron concerns, employee insurance and new ordinances were some of the issues discussed at a March 26 council meeting. Local citizen and businessman, Danny Dyches, appeared before the council with three concerns. Dyches informed the council that several sewer lines had been placed on private property by signed easements with the city, but city officials have no record of many of these easements, including an easement on his property. Dyches stated he became concerned when repairs were made on the system and charged to another ground owner. He said the system has some age where break downs will occur and believes the city is responsible for repairs on the line to the "Y" into his house. Dyches told the council that if they didnt acknowledge the line, then he wanted them to move it. Mayor Cook responded that the would definitely be problem looked into, and said the council has been trying to straighten out the records. Councilman Larson said they would also contact the city attorney. Dyches discussed with council members a program the city implemented with local businesses to improve driveways where the city would pay 50 percent of the cost of paving. He listed Moroni Feed, Bestway and Councilman Piphers business as examples. He said the council had run out of money, but promised him help the next year. Dyches stated he went ahead with the paving of his parking lot and paid for it. He told the city that if they would still honor that agreement and pay half, an esti had collected for flags for veterans in the cemetery. He said they had raised $52 for 23 flags. The council said they had not heard about this either, but said the money was probably put in the general fund and they would create an account for the money. Employee insurance A motion was passed to accept mated, $1,150, he would donate the money to the new ball field project. Councilman Pipher remembered the project and die council promised to investigate the matter, as well. Dyches also questioned the council on where the money is that he and other non-vetera- ns Snow hosts two M- arts competion for visual artists are now on display in the Snow College Fine Arts Gallery in the Humanities Building. The annual competition is one of the oldest shows of its type across the nation dating back to the founding of the council in 1899. The competition was predicated on a senate bill, authored by which Merrill Home, Alice established the "Utah Arts Institute" and called for an annual an exhibition to be held. Winning works historically have been purchased and become part of the Utah State Fine Arts Collection. This years exhibition consists of contemporary painting and sculpture. Recent works by Utah artists were selected by James Cooper and Deborah Solon, out of state jurors. From this exhibit a variety of works have been chosen for this years traveling exhibition. National The prestigious Watercolor Society (NWS) exhibit is also on display now through May 1 in the Fine Arts Gallery. Satellite workshop to be held on riparian restoration This workshop is an opportunity to bring communities together in an effort to establish a common way to evaluate the condition of riparian areas and to shape collaborative approaches for restoring and maintaining riparian function. Scientists who study riparian areas recognize that the wellbeing of these areas affects the g of entire communities. The purposes of the broadcast are to heighten public awareness about the importance of riparian areas and to expand the dialogue on ways to mend and protect these critical streamside areas through collaborative approaches. EPHRAI- M- Four federal agencies will join together to broadcast a national satellite workshop on riparian restoration and (streamside) management at 9 a.m., on Thursday, May 1, at Snow College in the EdNet Center located on the third floor of the library. There will be short morning and afternoon breaks and a one-holunch break. For more information contact Ed Schoppe at the Sanpete Ranger District, six-ho- ur ur 283-415- Originating from the BLM National Center in Training Phoenix, AZ, the satellite program will include presentations on stream hydrology, soils, the design and monitoring of grazing systems, and a discussion of proper functioning condition. Viewers will be able to call and FAX in questions and comments during the interactive portions of the telecast. Because riparian areas often are shared by numerous landowners, a collaborative approach is the only avenue to successful restoration and management, according to a Forest Service press release.
