He was born on April 13, 1923 in Fountain Green to Milton and LaVern Holman Oldroyd. He married Helen Howell on September 15, 1943 in Provo. He had worked for Ahlander Hardware Store for 20 years and for the U.S. Postal Service as a carrier for 15 years. He served in the military during World War II, He was a member of the LDS Church.
