PLEASAN- T- Moroni Elementary School construction is moving along, with up to 30 workers at a time trying to finish as soon as possible, according to a report by district architect Dale Allsop at the Feb. 8 North Sanpete School District Board meeting. Requests for bids have been published for subcontracting .of lockers, painting, chalk and tack boards, prefinished cabinets and casework, carpet, and resilient flooring. The deadline for those bids is 2 p.m., March 3. Allsop says they have finished the roof and walls enough that weather will not hamper finishing indoor work. He plans to be able to install cabinets by May or June, and the project completed by August 1. Allsop also released estimated building costs after cuts made by the board in January. They are as Moroni follows: Elementary School Addition, $1,700,000; North Sanpete High School Room' Addition, $794,100; North Sanpete High Classroom School Addition, $788,700; Mt. Pleasant Elementary Addition, $618,800; FounMulti-Purp- ose tain Green Elementary, ,$1,989,975. The total estimated amount is $5,981,575, less fire insurance monies totalling $800,000, leaving the amount $5,091,575. This leaves a cushion of $408,425 for payment of bond Dougherty-Dawkin- s company fees, architect fees (of which $25,904 was authorized to be paid to Allsop at this meeting) and to allow for fluctuation in bid amounts and rising construction costs. 1994. On her first day there, the malfunctioned, and soon the thermostat was reading above 100 degrees, so she propped open the door with one of the English books lying in piles on the floor. From the adjacent trailer, she could hear the rhythmic chanting of a Native American song mixed with the neighborhood sounds of roosters crowing and sheep and goats bleating. Soon she heard a loud clatter on the boardwalk outside. Startled, she looked up to see the bearded white faces of two angora goats peeking around her doorway. Without hesitation, they clambered up the rickety steps and entered her office, apparently right at home. Her first thought was, "Were not in Kansas anymore, Toto. " Since then, the San Juan Campus has come a long way, currently enrolling over 500 students and serving a diverse population including a large number of Native Americans. Merry has published her essays, poetry and stories in journals such as Quivera, Womens Writes, Blue Mountain, Shadows, Petroglyph and Ellipsis.
