Show Funeral Services Held in Fairview for Eliza Jones Funeral services were held in the Fairview South ward chapel Thursday Thurs-day of last week for Mrs. Eliza Jones, 79, who died in that city at the home cf her granddaughter, Mrs. Hortense Stewart, the Tues l.iy morning preceding, of a paralytic stroke. V. H. Anderson Dresid- ed at the services, and the choir under un-der Bishop H. P. Hansen furnished music. Opening prayer was by Bish. H. W. Jones. Speakers, who paid loving tribute to this worthy pioneer were: George F. Olsen, Heber Mower, Mow-er, and E. H. Anderson. Special musical mu-sical numbers were: a solo by Blsh--op Hansen, "That Wonderful Mother Moth-er of Mine." and a quartette under direction of Mrs. George F. Olsen. Benediction was by Aaron Cheney. The grave in the Fairview City cem-rstery cem-rstery was dedicated by Wm. Bonne. Many beautiful flowers were given. The funeral was well attended. Mrs. Eli?a Jones was born in Tj..:,-t Cant 1 fid thp daughter of George Baker and Mary Ann Randal Baker. She came tc Utah with her parents in 1860, the family settling in Pine Valley. She married Frederick W. Jones June 22, 1R73, in the Salt Lake Endowment House, and became the mother of 8 childrpn, six of whom survive her: Agnes Hurst, Blanding, Utah; Lor-en Lor-en Jones, Los Angeles, Calif.; Thomas Jones. Dublan, Old Mexico; Mexi-co; Jesse Jones, Kanab, Utah; Frank Jones, Elmo, Utah and Mrs. Georpeanna Hurst of Fairview. 2 grandchildren and 38 great-gi ard-children ard-children also .survive. In St. Genree she took an active part in the Relief Societv; fan:! in tne choir nnd did a great deal of Temple work. Her husband died in 1919 and she later came to Fairview to live with her daughter, Mrs. George Anna Hunt. She was known in St. George as "Grandma Jones." She was a loving lov-ing mother and a good Latter-Day-Saint. She endured the hardship of pioneer life both in Utah and in Old Mexico. |
