Show Fairview Town's Oldest Man Gelebrates Peter Peterson, eldest man re siding in Fairview, celebratei his eighty-eighth birthday a Ms home Monday, Sept. 27. A dinner was enjoyed by Mi and Mrs. Peterson, their five daughters and their husbaryJs. Mr. and Mrs. Warren P. Shepherd, Shep-herd, Mt. Pleasant; Mr. and Mrs. William E. Rigby, Mr. and Mrs. Howard W. Rigby, Mr. and Mrs. Alva Clement and Mr. and Mrs. Merlin H. Madsen, Fairview. Refreshments were served tc those who visited later, including I two sons and their wives: Mr. I and Mrs. LeRoy E. Peterson, Eph ; 'aim, and Mr. and Mrs. Andrew L. Peterson, Mt. Pleasant. Also visiting were: Bishop Otis Neil n, P.odney Nelson, Ted Las n of the Fairview South ward bishopric; Mr. and Mrs. L. L. Mr. Christensen was born in Denmark and when he was nine Sears old came to Ephraim with. Us mother and step-father. He has 33 grandchildren and ID great grandchildren. Out-of-town visitors were three sisters-in-law by his former for-mer marriage to Mrs. Mary Jane Thomas Bunnel, whom he married in 1933. The ladies were Mrs. Rose Prestwich, Mrs. Ramona Gordon, Mrs. Pearl Newl; also Mr. and Mrs .Chas. A. Bushey, Aroville, Calif., and John Gull. Refreshments were served and the time was spent in social chat. w Mrs. J. E. Gleave and Miss Gwen Gleave of Annabella, Utah, were visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Vaughn D. Mad-sen Mad-sen last week. Mr. and Mrs. Howard Rigby entertained at dinner Sunday, the following guests: Mr. and Mrs. Cleston Rigby and family, Provo; Mr. and Mrs. Vaughn Christensen and daughter, Ephraim; Eph-raim; Mr. and Mrs. Therald Rigby Rig-by and son, Hiawatha; Mr. and Mrs. Peter Peterson, Mrs. Cyrus Jensen and Mr. and Mrs. Alva Clement. Mr. and Mrs. Blain M. Mad sen of 331 South 8th East, Salt Lake city, welcomed the arrival of a baby boy September 11. Mrs. Merlin H. Madsen spent a week at their home entertainin; Karen and Jerry while theii mother was in the hospital. The Seagull class of the Fair-view Fair-view North ward Primary held a social Tuesday afternoon. This was in honor of their mothers and the purpose was to select a Primary mother for the year. This honor went to Mrs. Valton Tucker. Members of the class are: 'Madge Brady, Nedra Riddle, Dorothy Tucker, Catherine Cather-ine Carlston, Bonnie Hamilton. Donna Lou Hansen, Yvonne Bell and Gwen Jensen. Class instructor in-structor is Mrs. Calvin Erickson. A luncheon was served. Fairview Man Called Sheril E. Anderson, Snow college col-lege graduate, who has been called to serve two years as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, was honored at a farewell fare-well testimonial Wednesday-evening Wednesday-evening in Fairview South ward chapel. Mr. Anderson, a son of Mr. and Mrs. J. Cleon Anderson of Fairview, is a veteran of Wor d War II, having spent two year in the army air forces. He wi'' enter the Mission home Oct. 11 and from there will go to the Spanish American mission with headquarters at El Paso, Tex. Mr. and Mrs. Farrel Madsrn Provo and Mrs. Mae Jensen. Richfield, were Fairview visitors Sunday. Mrs. Caroline Madsen spent the weekend in Provo. Primary study meeting of the Fairview South ward was held at the home of President Minta Clement Thursday evening. Officers Of-ficers and teachers present were Mrs. Ila Jensen, Mrs. Violet Lar-sen, Lar-sen, Mrs. Christie Jones, Mrs. May Miner, Mrs. Emma Evans, Mrs. Lucille Madsen, Mrs. Delta Del-ta Neilsen, Mrs. Winnie Rasmus-sen, Rasmus-sen, Mrs. Lucy Tucker, Mrs. Blanche Follett, Mrs. Jane Brin-ton, Brin-ton, Mrs. Theo Cox and Mrs. Gladys Anderson. Refreshments were served during the evening which was spent in discussing Primary work and scripture reading. Quick response by the Fair-view Fair-view fire department to two alarms prevented serious losses last week. Members of the department, manning the city's fire engine which was purchased last year through a Jaycee-conducted drive, succeeded in extinguishing extinguish-ing fire at Harry Burnside's place and at Don Rosenlund's. Only loss at the Burnside's was a straw stack, while the fire at Rosenlunds burned a stubble field and was brougli under control before it spread to an adjoining standing grain crop which is owned by the Church Welfare program. |
