Show Spring City 87t Birthday Celebration Is Saturday Mrs. Petrea Monson Larsen, a life-long resident of this city, will be honored by her family and. friends' Saturday.. on. her eighty-seventh birthday. Mrs. Larsen was born at Spring City, March 26, 1862, a daughter of Peter and Bertha Monson, early residents and pioneers. They crossed the plains in the year 1859 walking the entire distance. . Mrs. Larsen has been a faithful faith-ful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Later Day Saints and served actively as a Relief Society visiting teacher for many years. She married Louis Lar- sen in the Manti Temple, May. 30, 1890. Mr. Larsen was engaged en-gaged in farming until his death, November. 1924. She is the mother of four children, three daughters are living, Mrs. Bergetta Jensen, Miss Mary Larsen and Mrs. Otellia Justensen, Spring City. There are seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Dr. Jewell J. Rasmussen will serve as Assistant Research director di-rector of the National Education Association for the next five months studying the problem of federal ownership of real estate in the eleven western states and possible revenue therefrom to state and local government. He left March 21 for Washington Washing-ton D. C. for preliminary work preceding the western area study. The family was visitors of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Schofield last weekend. The Ward Relief Society is completing a special house-to-house canvass to secure funds for the hospital at Mt. Pleasant The Primary will sell homemade home-made candy at the local shows to also secure funds for the drive. Mrs. Otellia Justensen entertained enter-tained the members of the Alea-thea Alea-thea club at the home of her sister, Mrs. Bergetta Jensen, Friday Fri-day afternoon. Thirteen club members were, present and Mrs. Utahna Strate was a special guest. Mrs. Mable Beck won the high prize in the rook game that followed fol-lowed the delicious dinner. Mrs. Ella Carlson won the traveling prize and Mrs. Ella Allred the low score. Clive Barney Jr. of California and a friend from Pennsylvania, students at BYU at Provo, visited over' the weekend with Mrs. Lorna Jensen, aunt of Mr. Barney. Bar-ney. -- The Ward Primary conference will be held Sunday evening in the ward chapel. The theme is "The Child I Might Be." Mrs. Libbie Allred will be in charge of the conference. Mrs. Rose Schofield will conduct the music. Songs, readings, tableaus, dramatizations dra-matizations and stories will be given in the conference. All Primary children will take part in the program. Allred. The stage will be beautifully decorated as a spring scene. Cifford McKinney returned home Sunday after several weeks training course at the L. D. S. hospital in Salt Lake city. He will soon take over duties as the new superintendent of the Tri-Stake hospital at Mt. Pleasant. Pleas-ant. D.U.P. Meeting The local D. U. P. camp under the direction of Captains Ber-getta Ber-getta Jensen, Jean Puzey and Hazel Black provided a splendid entertainment Monday evening in the Ward amusement hall for townspeople. Mr. and Mrs. Ruel Jones and son Lamoine and Mr. and Mrs Keith Jones and baby of Castle Dale visited Sunday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Vero Aiken. Mr. and Mrs. Vance Allred were visitors in Salt Lake cits over the weekend. Dunn Presents Chorus- The boys chorus of the local Junior high school presented a minstrel to a large audience fn-day fn-day evening in the Ward Recreation Recrea-tion hall under the direction of the music instructor, Jack Dunn. The boys participating in the minstrel were: Franklin Jensen, Garwood Strate, Scott Hansen. Ellis Dye, Leo Osborne, Kay Petersen, Pe-tersen, Larry Searle, Stephen Anderson, Earl Sorensen, Doug, las Snow, Morris Crisp, Allen Gustin, Bruce Madsen, Devon Beck and Clarence Sorensen. The minstrel was "Bandana Junior Jun-ior Minstrel". Proceeds for the show will go to the swimming pool fund. Miss Carol Terry was accompanist for the chorus. Mrs. Ernest B. Terry visited in Ogden the past week with her daughter, Mrs. Frank Acord and daughters. Spending weekends home with their parents between midterms mid-terms were students Warren Thompson, Russell Aiken, Con-nell Con-nell Osborne, Sheldon Schofield. Yvonne Schofield and Keith Sorensen. Sor-ensen. Mrs. Sorensen also accompanied ac-companied Keith from Provo. The other students are from Logan, Salt Lake city and Provo. Mrs. Loren Rees of Wales spent Tuesday visiting her daughter, Mrs. Francis Black. Mrs. Ruth Osborne is spending a few days visiting at the home of Mrs. Gardell Osborne of Fair-view. Fair-view.
