Show Ephraim Boy Is First Patient At New Hospital; First Baby's Johansen Ephraim, Mt. Pleasant and Moroni vwere represented by the first three patients on the registration regis-tration book at the new Sanpete LDS hospital at Mt. Pleasant. Although the hospital opened officially for business Monday-it Monday-it was not until Wednesday afternoon af-ternoon that a patient appeared for treatment. He was Eugene Jensen, 12, son of Mr. and Mrs. Paul E. Jensen of Ephraim. The lad had fractured his hip by a fall at his school grounds. Honor of being the first baby born at the hospital went to the infant son of Verl J. and Julia Davenport Johansen of Mt. Pleasant. The young man made his appearnce at 7:50 p. m. and weighed in at 7 pounds, 14 ounces. His father is in charge of building maintainance at Wasatch Academy. He is the brother of two sisters. Another boy made his appearance appear-ance at the hospital Thursday morning at 9:10 a. m. and weighed 8 pounds, 6 ounces. He's the son of Orvin P. and Betty S. Barney of Moroni. With patients to be visited, Clifford McKinney, superintendent superintend-ent of the hospital, announced that visiting hours are 3 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 8 p.m. Children under un-der 14 years will not be allowed in patients' rooms. During the first days of operation oper-ation the LDS hospital at Salt Lake city has lent the Sanpete hospital the services of Miss Ar-villa Ar-villa Thomas, Mr. McKinney said. Miss Thomas is chief nurse in charge of the surgical department depart-ment at the Salt Lake LDS hospital. hos-pital.
