Let the record answer: In the first year of Republican Control the expenses of operation of nearly all state offices, commissions and departments was increased. Z The salaries of the Secretary, of State, the State Auditor, the State Treasurer and the Attorney General were all increased $500.00- I r" per annum in the first year of Republican rule 1921. ' ' The salary of the Governor's secretary and stenographer, the Secretary of State's Deputy, the Deputy State Auditor and numerous i other deputies and clerks were similarly increased. . l The Department of Finance and Purchase was installed at a biennial expense of $45,000.00.
