Show The Mao STONJt.--The following is condensed from the Binn county (Iowa) Begisler:-r-"The ltev. Mr. Cleghorn, of Cower's Ferry, Cedar county, had one of his sons bitten by a mad dog on the 2d Inst., and also the horse upon which tho boy was riding at tho time. Having seen the account which was published a few days ago of the " mad stone " in the possession of Mr. Evans, of Paris, in this county, he immediately started thither with his boy and horse, 'JThp stone was soaked in warm milk and water, and then applied to the wound. It adhered with great tenacity so much so as to cause intense pain for a few minutes. After a short time it seemed to fill itself and dropped Oft. After being submerged in the mik and water again during which a green, offensive scum would arise from the atone it was again applied. After the fourth time it would not adhere any more, and Mr. .Evans pronounced t . . . - . , - ... ( him cured: it was then applied to tho wpund on the horse, to which it adhered three times only. To make sure of the matter, however, Mr. C. remained over night, and tried it again in the morning, but it would have no effect on either the boy or the horse. It seemed to bo a fact well attested . that this stone will not adhere ad-here to any wound not made by a rabid animal;, and if so, must confound, the wisdom wis-dom of ihe most philosophical ; " , , SAnh JtiXN 1st AND.Gori. ilarney had posted nearly all . his available forces iipon tho island, ,and was proceeding pro-ceeding to erect fortifications.
