If I find something that really means a lot to me I feel the best way I can express my feeling about it is to write a song. I sing a lot of Joan Baez, Joni Mitchell and Judy Collins songs, but I wont touch them if I dont feel that I can do it as well as they did. I usually try and find my own arrangement and get into it that way. Ive been writing more of my own songs lately, though. Besides her music Karen makes most of her own clothing, keeping mainly to earth tones and long dresses. I also like to cook Dale would probably laugh at that since were both out running around so much we dont get very good meals, she laughed. . Karen laughs and smiles a lot. She is happy and her happiness is contagious. As she sings her song of friends and Park City the feelings surround the room. Although your body is firmly planted in downtown Salt Lake City your spirit is freely roaming through the shops in Park City. . one entitled Friends, to our really close friends in Park City. It is a simple song that Karen Gibbs sings, but it is a song of Ski Class There are plenty of recreational skiers who, on a cold, stormy day would do just about anything to Get Hot. And Bob Theobald, of Park City, a professional freestylist has developed and refined a special ski school system so that even stem Christy types can begin to on learn how to Get Hot skis. The fast emerging field of freestyle, acrobatic skiing is on and films, catching news stories, magazine articles, etc. are regularly focusing attention on the sport. Theobald, 23, who grew up in the Utah ski country, began doing things like jumping off cliffs several years ago. In 1970,' he began turning others onto what used to be reserved fcr skiings crazier fringe. Soon, it became obvious that on skis is not as difficult as it once looked. f ' 4'' Theobalds Get Hot school is 'entering its third spason and has weve grown. When Ken Benson Benatina was fully recovered from a leg broken during spring skiing, he planted his. crutch at Bensons Beach,! a summer Park City hangout. As people relaxed in th sunlight, sunflowers found their way upward and into the early fall. Then came the transition into winter, as the skiers slowly returned and even the irrasdble Park City rugby players traded their game jerseys for parkas. Bensons Beach remained deserted until Mountain Flower photographer Richard Stare happened by one. night and found the crutch, which had been used at the end of the last years ski season, standing in the first snow of this years.
