| Show constitutional AMENDMENT starting this week and continuing for nine nine is is mes jues a notice of the constitutional amendment to be voters voted upon at the general election this november is being published by the secretary of state in all newspapers of utah this publication is being made to fully acquaint the people of utah with the proposed change in the number of legislators to represent the various areas of the state if the amendment passes at the general election each county in the state will have one senator and the number of members of the house of representatives will be based on population it would seem to us that this is a fair and equitable means of electing our state representatives to the legislature it is the plan that has been in effect for electing our national representatives since this nation was born and goo good d enough nationally should be plenty good right here in utah only objection to the proposed reapportionment tion ment plan comes from the thickly populated areas weber salt lake and utah counties lose numbers in the senate but will gain in the house all other areas in the state appear to be in favor of the plan which was inaugurated by our own senator from this district alonzo F hopkin sen hopkin has during his 20 odd years in the utah legislature seen the growing strength of the urban areas in both houses of the state law making body and he realizes that the time is not too far distant when the rural areas may well lose their voice entirely at the state capitol the new plan aou would ld provide a check and balance with urban areas controlling crollin tr ollin the house and suburban districts the senate we 10 urge a careful study of this most important matter and we are sure that all persons of this area will vote yes on this amendment at the november election |
