Show CIVIC CLUB MEET LARGELY ATTENDED LIONS CLUB WAS HOST some people coming from all 1 parts of the counties in northern utah were in attendance wednesday wed ries evening at the annual meeting of the associated civic clubs in the morgan high school building musical selections were furnished by the students of M H S the T ile morgan lions club was host organization with president walter C larson officiating charles reed of lasal delivered the principal pil address in which he criticized the utah state agricultural college for alleged failure of fulfilling its primary duties of training our boys and girls tor for farm life but stated that his criticism was made with a view of improving conditions at the colle college collee e he asserted that the A C beconi becoming ing a cultural center instead of teaching a livestock man how to lessen crop losses and otherwise perform its duties to agriculture the college has been a great place to turn out county agents and others who work for the government ern ment mr redd said but it must do an about face and give our people the training they are entitled to when they attend an agricultural college the colleges experiment station he said done much toward assisting or guiding the livestock industry we want them to tell us how to avoid low crop production and build up better flocks and herds C A matissen Matts sen of richfield president of the utah private land la nd owners association stressed the important role the livestock industry has in the economy of utah and warned against over tion of deer and elk on forest service grazing lands to the extent that domestic livestock would be crowded out and thereby decrease taxable wealth of the state president herbert woods of ogden announced the next meeting of the association will be held in bri brigham city probably november 22 under direction of the roads committee |
