Show Millard County Progress, Fillmore, Utah B4631 Dathel W hitukei Edna Ahlstrom has returned home following a two week visit with family members in Boise, Idaho and Bountiful, Utah during the Thanksgiving Holiday. She was a guest of her son, Warren, and wife, Mildred, for Thanksgiving dinner. Others guests were their oldest son, Steven, his wife and their five children from Pasco, During Brant and Karen Georges recent stay in SLC, they attended the Utah Cattlemans Convention on Dec. 2 and 3. York and Christi Shields are happy to announce the arrival of a baby boy, born Dec. 4, weighing 6 lbs., 4 oz. and 19 inches long. They live in Rosevelt, Utah. Proud grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Mac Shields of Kanosh and Mr. and Mrs. Lee A verett of Meadow. Nora Price and Dathel Whitaker spent an enjoyable day on Saturday, Dec. 4 in SLC taking in the activities at the Salt Palace of the Festival of Christmas Trees, which was very beautiful. They stopped to welcome her home. Olaf and Blanche George have had an enjoyalbe month's stay away from their home in Kanosh. Part of the time was spent at their second home in SLC. Among other things they did temple work. were of their daughter, Deanna Hurst, husband, Harold, and family in Sandy on Thanksgiving. Bishop Ray George and family from Evanston, Wyo. joined the family there to help celebrate the holiday. The day after Thanksgiving, Olaf and Blanche traveled to Elk Grove, Cal. where they were guests of their son, Sterling and guests family. On Sunday, Nov. 28, they were made very proud parents when Sterling was sustained as a new Bishop of a new ward; four wards having been made from three wards. Fillmore Highlights II By Angie Green ,3 Thanksgiving guests in the home of Harold and Flora Huntsman were: grandsons, Robert White, John and his wife Brenda White, of Las Vegas and their two children, Jennifer and Kimberly. Their daughter, Lynn (Harolene) and her husband, Wes White, arrived on Nov. 26 an Husband, Wes White, arrived on Nov. 26 and until Other stayed Sunday. Thanksgiving guests included their son, Raymond Huntsman, grandson Dale and Nicole Huntsman, and granddaughter, Linda, and her husband, Kirt Sorensen, and their two children, Christopher and Jaret, of Delta. On Sunday, Dec. 5, the families of Gary and Diane Turner gathered in Fillmore to attend the blessing and naming of their son, Christopher E. Turner. Those attending the blessing were: Garys parents, Don and Ella Vee Turner, his grandparents, Claude and LaNola Turner, his uncle and aunt, Roland and Jackie Turner, and their children, and coming from Salt Lake, his brother, Lan, and sister, Tammy, and her husband, Larry Shelton, and their two children, Blaine and Dennis. Members of Dianes family included her grandparents, Howard and Ruby Smith, of Springvilleand her brother, John Brady, of Provo. After Sacrament Meeting, they all gathered at the home of Don and EllaVee Turner for dinner. Last week, Dean and Paul Robison went to Salt Lake to visit Pauls son, Easton, and his wife, Dorothy Robison. They also visited Deans daughter and her husband, Shirlene and Cliff Davis, and their children. Pauls granddaughter, Debbie, and her husband. Dr. Brent Jackson, and four children of Fillmore also drove to Salt Lake to visit her parents, Easton and Dorothy Robison. Clarence Davies went to Salt Lake to spend Thanksgiving with his daughter, Elaine Nickol, and family. Ronald and Becky Brunson and their six children joined members of the family at the home of Beckys parents, Erie and Doreen Emmett, on Thanksgiving Day. Those who were there were: Beckys two sisters, Christie, and her husband, Clyde Bingham, and their daughter ot Provo, and Julie anJ her husband, Clark Kendall, and two sons of Green River, Wyoming. Also joining the family were Beckys brother, Bill Emmett, and an uncle and aunt, Vic and Bea Stokes, of Las Vegas. Mrs. Afton Swartz enjoyed the company on Thanksgiv ing Day of her two daughters, Jo Ann Gudmundson and Claydcan Farrell, and her children, Mark and Denna, all coming from California. This was a for Afton and her special They enjoyed the traditional family. Thanksgiving feast with turkey, dressisng, mince pieand all the other trimmings. During the girls stay, they spent the evenings visiting with aunts, uncles, and cousins. Among a few were 0, 1 982, home. Washington. On Ednas return home she visited a few days in Bountiful with her daughter, LaRae Crosland, and family. With two feet of snow that fell in Bountiful she wondered if she would be able to make it out, but she did and on her return, received the good news of the arrival of a new little born the Sunday following Thanksgiving in Las Vegas. Marianne was a hostess at one of the sweets booths at the Salt Palace. Dathels mother, Juanita Charlesworth, met the party there for the days activities which they all enjoyed. Dathel and Nora stopped at the hospital in Fillmore on their way home to visit Willard Whitaker who is a patient there. His condition is improving, but blood clots can be very serious. His stay at the hospital has been made much more enjoyable to have such a good room partner as Milton Stevens, from Holden, to visit with, who is also a patient there. Neca Watts is home from Omaha, Neb. where she spent two weeks with her daughter, Cherri Joy and husband. Bishop Dave Joy and family. On her way home she visited with her son, Bart in Provo, who goes to the Y. was Sacrament meeting Sunday conducted by Bishop Christensen. High Councilman, Robert Nielson and Pres. Alton Staples were in attendance. Bishop Christensen presented the name of Duane Davis for aproved to be advanced to the office of a Priest in the Aaronic Priesthood. The baby son of Margean and Cleve Christensen was given a fathers blessing and the name of Collin Charles Christensen, by Cleve. Standing in were grandfathers: Vernon Christensen and Melvin Stevens; uncles, Bryant Stevens, Doug Nielsen, and Thayne Christensen; and Bishop Christensen and Counselor Gordan Staples. Twenty five testimonies were borne. Family member of Vernon and Alice Christensen were their guests at their home for dinner, following Sacrament meeting. Bishop Ray George, his wife, Sharon, and some of their children were in attendance at church services on Sunday. They along with Helen (George) Finlinson and family and the Brant George family, were dinner guests of their parents, Olaf and Blanche, numbering 21 . Funeral services for Melba Staples, which was held Tuesday, Dec. 7 at 10:00 a.m. in the Kanosh Ward Chapel, will be printed in next weeks Progress. She passed away on Dec. 4, 1982, at a Cedar City hospital. l pp---sHr- jwj Flowell Features Mr. and Mrs. Grant Robinson took her mother, Mrs. Laura Atha, to her home in SLC Nov. 29. She accompanied her grandchildren, Mr. and Mrs. Kirk and children of SLC, here for Thanksgiving and stayed for a longer visit. Mr. and Mrs Melville Tomkinson are pleased to hear they have another little Their grandson, Larry Tomkinson, and wife of Provo became parents to their sixth little daughter Nov. 24, 1982. She weighed 9 lbs., and alew oz. Her grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Roy Tomkinson of Fillmore, who cared for four of Larrys little girls while mom and little sister were in the hospital. Oldest daughter stayed to help daddy. Gloria and Roy dinner to their brought Thanksgiving parents, Melville and Nona. The Anthony Fuller family were blessed with another little member born in Cottonwood Hospital in SLC on Nov. 20, 1982. Little Gordan weighed 8 lbs., 7 oz. and 2 Vi inches tall. He has four sisters and two brothers very pleased to have their new little brother to help care for. Maternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Lindon Dean. Mrs. Helen Fuller is the other grandparent. All live in the Salt Lake area. On Dec. 2 Grant Robinson took Archie Christensen, Mrs. Ruth Allen and Mrs. Faunlella Robison to lour sessions at the Provo Temple, which was an enjoyable day. Mr. and Mrs. Don Tomkinson and Rodney spent Friday and Saturday at the home of their daughter and Connie and Craig Stratton, in Hurricane. They enjoyed their visit very much while with helping Connie and her mother-in-lathe making of Christmas candy. Mrs. Thora Wilcox and children attended Sacrament Meeting Dec. 5 in the I illmore Fourth Ward to be present when their son, Curtis Wilcox, gave his little son a lathers blessing and the name, Jashua Don. Little Joshua Dons grandpa, Don Wilcox, was unable to be in attendance because of his work, but grandpa, Don Sorenson, was in attendance to stand with Curtis. Grandma, Alice Sorenson, and children also attended the meeting with Don and their daughter, Susan Wilcox, Curtis and their two little sons. The Crystal Camp of the DUP held their Christmas Dec. 2 meeting in the beautifully decorated home of Capt. Dianna Fuller. She conducted the meeting and extended a welcome and seasons greetings. Dixie Wiliams offered the invocation. Ruthmary Brower led in the pledge to the U.S. Flag. Song O Ye Mountains High" directed by Dianna, with Carma Swallow accompanying on the piano. Ruthmary gave an interesting history of an early ancestor, Abel Lamb, born in Massachusetts on June 2, 1646. He took part in the King Phillips War. He died in 7 10 at age64. Co. Christensen Dept.
