Thank You Have you ever wondered why I have an article in the Progress each week, and have had for over 25 years? At first, my articles were just when I felt like writing, but one day the editor, Vance Wilson, asked me to write each week on any subject 1 chose, as he remarked, "You always have an opinion on every subject, and we might start some good debates. I have always enjoyed writing, and find it gives me an outlet for expressing this "opinion and stimulates me to read more than I probably would otherwise do. At least I enjoy reading more magazines and newspapers, just to analyze the different points of view on every subject. I have never been paid one penny for my articles as I write because I enjoy my work, and do not feel that 1 have to agree with any certain section of society. Since I always write the first of the week, many of my articles concern the events which take place on Sunday, since I dont drive a car and Belva has time to take me sightseeing, or I get some ideas as I attend the different church activities. Today our teacher in Relief Society, Mrs. Lea Day, gave each of us a small piece of paper five inches by four inches, and asked us to write the things in the world which we thought should or could be changed for the better. Of course we all know she was trying to get her audience to think of how each of us could help to make the world better, but it would be interesting to listen to the many different opinions of the meaning of Its a girl!
