Answer: The Fish and Game in this area is your local game warden. If you live in town and have problems with deer eating your favorite fruit or ornamental trees, the best solution is to make temporary cages out of field fence to surround each tree. After the deer have moved back to the mountains, the field fence can be taken down and stored. I have a supply of net fencing at my home and it is free. There is one small catch, I don't have the time to help erect such for cages protective everyone with a deer problem. There are instances where we do not provide materials. The Fish and Game does not provide fencing material for small garden plots or chemicals to be sprayed on trees to discourage deer use. On a larger scale the dwr provides fencing materials for commercial orchards and haystacks, but not for open range or crop land. The DWR also sjpends hundreds of dollars on shotgun shells and firecrackers to trying scare deer out of fields. Sometimes its just gets down right expensive for the Division, but if you have a problem with deer, either in town or on the farm, let me know. Give me a chance to find a solution otherwise I can always sympathize with you. |
