W'hen the Ashman family crossed the ocean with so many Latter-daSaints converts, Isabel made the acquaintance of a Danish girl named Hannah Peterson, sister of Hans and James Peterson Hannah's family also came to Fillmore Therefore, these two girls, who had just arrived in F illmore, were close friends who were glad to know each other in a strange town. Soon Hans Peterson was courting Isabel.
