Kanosh Kapers Bv hithcl Ilit.ikiM Spending around six weeks in Kanosh with Bishop Jim Minion, helping with farm chores, etc., has been Brett Stabenow Irom Hesperia. California. Brett's parents, Vallrcv and Dick, spent a week in Kanosh as guests of the Mintons during the deer hunt. Brett returned home with his parents on Oct. 30th. Bret l is preparing to go on a mission. Bishop Minton's wife, Joyce, who teaches Seminars at Hesperia, accompanied a friend, Bertha Andrus, to Kanosh to entertain her house! ull of company. Joining the group were the Mintons son, Bruce, his wile, Donna, and their little daughter. Michelle, from Provo. Bruce is a student at the J. Reuben Clark I ass School in Provo. Willaid and Dathcl Whitaker were happy to have two of their sons, John and Michael,' Irom Fallon, Nevada and another son, Bishop Rav, Irom Salt lake, spend some time with them during the deer hunt. Johns wile, Shelley, and two children, Hayden and Kenyen, had been spending a few days in as Vegas, Nevada with her parents, Jet ry and Annette Heki. The group drove to kanosh on Oct. 29th, which was a happy occasion for the Whitakers as they hadn't seen their new granddaughter, 1 d Kenyen, yet. W illard, Dathel, Glen, and Lilly Whitaker spent an enjoyable day at the Provo Temple on i riday.Oct. 29th. and Evalyn Lawson enjoyed the following family members at (heir home during the deer hunt: Lauralee, from California; Brent and children, from Annabella; and Marsha Pinney and husband. Coming from Lehi, Utah to spend time during the hunt with Mac and Roena Shields were Tim Tuttle, wife Ruth Ann, and two children; also Sherri Kay Thueson and two sons from Boise, Idaho. Joining the family to honor their sister, Claudeen, at a bridal shower was May Ann Steadman from Salt Lake. Joyce Whatcott and daughter, Pam, hosted Ken Clieri Perkins, Olaf and Blanch George, and Brant and Karen George. Traveling from Meadow to Evanston for the reception were De I yle and Shannon and this lovely shower at the Whatcott home in If you have never eaten Asian food, you hav e really missed out on a treat. Dathel and Lilly Whitaker and her children (their husbands werent able to make it) were invited to the home of Bounlap Phommahaxay and his wife, Chouth (Jute) in Fillmore to a supper in honor of the Phommahaxays dear, dose friends. Brother Glen and Sister Audrey Quigley, before they depart for the mission field. This fine Asian couple love the Quigleys so much, that they have adopted them as their grandparents. Around 50 persons gathered at their home on the evening of Nov. 2nd to show their love to the Quigleys. Among the guests were the Presidency of the new Asian Branch in Fillmore and others who have been working with these Asian people. We are happy to announce that Sister Maria Whitaker is improving at the I illmorc SHospital, where she was taken on Sunday morning, Oct. 31st following a heart attack. During the past week, her daughter, Carolyn Wunderlich, from Salt Lake and son, Mario, and wife, Karen, from Brigham City have been with her. Our prayers and best wishes for a speedy recovery, go out to you, Sister Maria. For two or three days during the pheasant hunt, Stan Johnsons home was a beehive of activity and fun, as around 15 brothers, sisters, nephews, neices, and friends gathered there. Stan said, We really had a nice time and it seemed so good to have my home full of people again. We can understand his feelings, because we know that he spends many lonesome days alone. A lovely wedding reception was held on Saturday, Nov. 6th at the LDS Church in Evanston, Wyo. in honor of Traci Jo Hopkins, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Howard Hopkins, and Rodney W'eems George, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ray S. George. Those attending from Kanosh were Dean Carling. The group were happy to see Carolyn Dobson, daughter of Blaine and Minnie Penney, and her daughter. Heather, at the reception. Carolyn and her husband, Loy, Dinner guests at the home of Vicki and Leonard Watts on Sunday, Nov. 7th, were her mother, Maurine Ackerman, and sister, I the weekend visiting their Spending parents, Jay and Helen Stevens, were Bill and Sandra Green and boys of Salt Lake City. Wendell and Hilma Stephenson drove from their home in Henderson, Ncv. to spend a few days with their parents, Bruce and HattieStephenson.andCecil. Sidney and Betty Hunter were visiting in I as Vegas at the home of their daughter, Susan and Larry Boucher, and family lor a Cheri, of Junction. last week we reported that the Kanosh Ward Choir vice president I cavitt Christensen. This was in error. new vice president is Olaf George. apologies to both Mr. George and livein Evanston. Cheri reports that they were treated royally by Bishop Ray and Sharon while they were there, being taken out to dinner and taking a tour of the area, which included the oil fields. Next stop, Wichita Falls, Texas, the home of Bob and Debra Townsley and their five daughters, and then on to El Centro, California for a weeks visit with her daughter, Marcie Townsley. and to wind up her months vacation with her family, Lee will go to Wimhrop, Washington to spend a week with her son John, his wife, Renee, and their son, John Aaron, whowas born January 12, 1982. Lee will be coming home November 22. Cant think of a nicer Christmas present, can By Angie Green Mrs. Laurence (Lula) Peterson was in the hospital for a week with pneumonia. She is at home now, but this is really a bad bug and it takes a long time to fully recover. On Saturday Deans son, Dr. Chesley Davies and his wile, Mary of Las Vegas arrived in the rain. They were on their way to Provo to see their new granddaughter. This for Dean and 19 makes 26 you? Stella Day celebrated her 94th birthday on the 30th of October, and on this special occasion she was honored with a birthday greeting from President Ronald Reagan. Her birthday guests included her son, Tom and wife, Dean Day of Ogden and her daughter, Dalia and Wendell Paxton of Salt Lake. Dalia and Wendell had been vacationing at their for Paul. The Davies felt they had battled the rain long enough, so after returning from Provo they stayed with Dean and Paul until all was clear on Monday. It was a little out of the ordinary and a little early for Christmas, but babies dont stay babies very long, and Lee wanted to see her two new grandsons, so Matt and Lee Townsley drove to Provo and Matt purchased a months pass on the Greyhound Bus for Lee as condominium in Laguna Beach, California. The East Millard County DUP General Board met at the Slatehouse Museum on I November at 2 p.m. President Elaine Goddard greeted the Daughters and presided over the meeting. First Vice President Roma Bird brought five histories of Meadow written by Betty Mae Labrum. They were all sold for $2.00 each. her Christmas present . Excited as all get out, Lee boarded the bus on October 22 at 4:30a.m. in Fillmore heading out on the first leg of her journey to Cape Girardeau, Missouri, where Matt and Lees her husband, John Robert, Jr. (Bob) Willingham and their new son make their home. The babys name is David Hurst. He was born Oct. 20th weighing 7 lbs. lOounces.and measuring21 inches long. He has a generous map of dark hair and the Townslcys blue eyes. Lee planned to spend a week at her daughters hilltop home cuddling daughter, Patricia, few days. David and watching the beautiful Correspondence from the Central Company in Salt Lake was read by President Goddard and discussed. It was reported that histories of East Millard Museums will be submitted to the Central Company for consideration of publication in future lesson Coming from their home in Orem for a a pamphlets and the Enduring Legacy, book published yearly by the DUP. Dorothy and Grant Williams of St. Anthony, Idaho came on October 15 and spent a week and when they went home I coma returned with them for another week ol visiting. Her daughter Carolyn and husband Mark Rowley came from North Ogden on October 22 for the deer hunt . Carolyn and Leonta had a good time visiting and tying a quill w bile Mark hunted. They returned home October 24. Delcll (Jack) Brunson traveled to Cedar City Oct. 31 with her daughter, Betty, and her husband, Owen Conrad, to attend a farewell given for her grandson, Elder Henry Brunson, who has been called to serve in the Atlanta, Georgia mission. The program was attended by other members of the immediate family followed by a brunch served at the mission home. Henry is the son of Rollo and Rae Brunson of Cedar City. He will enter the MTC on Nov. Shirley spent the next day with another sister, Peggy Robison, while Shirleys husband, Lowell, was on the deer hunt with his brother, Lester Dobson. Nov. 4, 1982 was a beautiful day for the Crystal Camp DUP to meet at the home of Thora Wilcox. Capt. Dianna Fuller expressed appreciation for those attending and conducted the meeting. We practiced a beautiful song Where are the Friends of My Youth? Ruthmary led us in the Pledge to Old Glory. Sec. Jean Neilson read the minutes of the last meeting. Stella Brinkerhoff gave a history of her mothers cousin, Emma Wright Hanks in an interesting and splendid manner. The lesson Early School Teachers, which brought smiles to our face and soft chuckles and a few tears was presented by Paula Christensen. As usual Thora served delicious refreshments to those whose names already mentioned and Phyllis Murray, Algie Swallow, Virgie lvie. Dean Robinson, and Stella Day. the latter two daughters were special guests from the County company. The community is saddened and sympathizes with Mr. and Mrs. Clem Utley and their daughter and Tami and Roland Benson of Springville, with the death of the Bensons little seven week old daughter, Ashley Madlyn Benson, on Nov. 2. Graveside services were held Friday, Nov. 5 at the Provo Cemetery. Prayers at the Mortuary was given by little Ashleys Michael uncle, Utley. Grandmother, Benson, Madlyn gave the eulogy. Grandfather, Clem Utley, sang a solo Mighty Like A Rose." The dedicatory prayer was offered by grandfather, David Cont.toPag3 Keith McArthur, age 82, of Scipio, died November 7, 1982, in a West Millard hospital. Hewas born Decembers, 1899, in Scipio, to William Wallace and Birdie Ellen Robins McArthur. He married Echo Brunson, January 23, 1930, in Salt LakeCily. Hewas a farmer and a cattleman. He served on the Scipio Town Council and the irrigation board. Survived by: son and daughteis: Lynn, Delta; Mrs. Ben (Laurel) Stott, Meadow; Mrs. Guy (Marcia) Stewart, Draper; grandchildren; sister, Helen Noyes, Salina. Funeral services were held Tuesday, Nov. 9, at II a.m. in the Scipio Ward Chapel. Burial was in the Meadow Cemetery. Funeral directors, Olpin Mortuary, Fillmore. Blonda Knight Passes Away Blonda Harriet Wixom Knight died at her home in Firth, Idaho November 7, 1982. She w as born October 29, 909 at Fillmore, Utah to Solomon Don Carlos and Ellen May Lambert Wixom. She married Lloyd Mayhew Knight July 31, 1929 in Fillmore. Utah. She was a member of the LDS Church. She served as chorister and pianist in Primary and Relief Society and also as 1 pianist in several wards wherever she lived. She was long noted for her musical talent and ability. Was a member of Riverview Grange in Firth. Survivors, two sons and two daughters: Mrs. Glenn (Betty Jo) Cedcrberg of Firth; I loyd Knight, Palos Verdes, Ca.; Mrs. Dennis (Karen) Bonzon, Rock Springs, Wyo.; Carlos W. Knight, Huntsville, Arkansas; 13 grandchildren and nine greatgrandchildren. Also survived by two sisters, Wilna Wixom and Penelope W. Pike, Oak City. Utah. Services were held Nov. 10, 1982 at I p.nt. at the Firth Stake Center with Bishop Wm. McClure officiating. Jim and Marsh Slaas and daughter, Kellee Ann, of Ely, Nev. came to spend the and weekend with mother their grandmother, Ethel Wood and Vera Nixon. Saturday afternoon they drove to Richfield to visit daughter and granddaughter, Teresa Cropper. She is the night supervisor at the Pizza Hut and plans to enroll at Sevier Valley Tech, in January. Elbert and Lizzie Stevens received word of the birth of a new Their grandson, Mark Stevens, and wife welcomed their first child Nov. 1st. Dr. and Mrs. Lawrence Stevens are the proud grandparents. Bruce and Hattie Stephenson received word of the birth of a new Kenlcy and Shanna Bitten of Idaho Falls welcomed little Christina to their family Nov. 8th. She has a big sister that is also pleased with her arrival. Scott the are and Shirley Stephenson grandparents. We are sorry to hear that Bruce Stephenson is a patient at the Fillmore Hospital due to a blood dot in his leg. His condition is improved and we are hoping he w ill soon be homeagain. Warren Crosland and Mark Stephenson and son, Jim, attended the Stephenson Hereford Ranch sale in Salmon, Idaho.
