Sept. 24 1982 Page 2 Fillmore Highlights By Angie Green and Afton Stevens and their son Bob and his wife Deanna Stevens and their small daughter Darcie drove to Nephi on September 19 to visit Carl and Helen Stevens and their children. Melanie, Jennifer, Katie and Corby. This wasvisit, it n't just a drop-iwas to celebrate Helens and little Darcis birthdays. Helen cooked a lovely birthday dinner for her guests, and afterwards she and Darci had a good time opening birthday presents. The Stevens families returned home the same day. On September 20 Bob and Deanna Stevens gave a birthday party to celebrate their daughter Darci's first birthday. The family members attending were: Bob's parents. Stan and Afton SteDeanna's vens. parents, Mario and Joy Imlay and their daughter Susan of Cedar City, Mark and Brenda Huntsman and their daughter Heidi, and Darcis greatHattie Stegrandmother, vens. It was an exciting day for little Darci. This was her first birthday, and there were so many presents to open, and so much attention that by the time the party was over she was ready for a nap. On September 11, Sherman and Jolene Stephenson and family attended the Utah State Fair in Salt Lake City. This was a first for the children. Excitement ran high as the hot dogs and snow cones disappeared, Stan n and the various rides were tried where true courage was tested, and balloons that eventually popped or silently rose in the air and drifted away. The animals and fowl in the barns were show stoppers for the children, and for Jolene, arts and crafts were her thing. They all enjoyed the log rolling on water, side shows and especially a daring acrobatic feat on a high pole. In the evening they all attended and enjoyed the Disney on Ice Show at the Salt Palace. On September 17 Sherman and Jolene Stephensons son, 16 months old, Wyatt, who loves music, became so intrigued with the piano he climbed upon the bench and proceeded to try musical this fascinating for himself. instrument But in doing so, he fell from the bench, striking his face and puncturing his bottom lip with his teeth. Jolene rushed him to the hospital, where three stitches were close to the required wound. Mom says he is doing fine, but probably wont be playing the piano again for some time. Barbara Carling and her two children, Jason and Jeana of Orem came to Fillmore for the weekend to visit Barbaras mother, Josie Ashman. On September 18 they drove to St. George and spent a delightful day visiting Josie's brother-in-laHarold Ashman and wife Verda. Scipio Town Board opened the bids submitted for the new fire house and city 17. September building grand-chidlre- n There were seven bids, with Maple Leaf Industries of Ephraim receiving the bid. Their bid was $37,622.00. This includes building and Heat and cement work. plumbing are still pending. The town has received grants that should almost pay the entire cost. The new building will currently bring more fire safety and security to the town. It will be built on the old tithing lot in the center of town. Gyde and LaVern Ivie, Kearns, spent the weekend with her parents, LeVoy and Ella Memmott. Saturday they drove to the Delta area to see the changes being made in the county.
