Kanosh Kapers By Dathel Whitaker Josie Miller entertained two special guests at her home recently; President of the Central Company Board of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers, Emma R. Olsen from SLC, and Mary Alice Woolley, who is the Regional Representative of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers of Southern California. The purpose of ther visit to this area was one to see the Chief Kanosh Pageant and to take a tour through the Sally Kanosh DUP Museum. They reported that both were just great. President Olsen filled the position left by the late Kate B. Carter. Guests at the home of Thelma Oldfield have been her sister, Darlene Wadsworth, and husband, Frank, from Las Vegas, Nevada. Their brother, Theron Brunson, from Kaysville also joined them here and to visit their mother, Georgia Day, at the Fillmore Hospital. As a family group, including another brother, Grant Brunson, they attended the Chief Kanosh Pageant, having a special interest in it because Curtis Hare, son of Georgia Brunson Hare, was taking the part of Waikaira in the production. President Alton Staples and wife, Lorraine, are so happy to have their son, Randy, wife, Kathy, and daughter, Rena, back in Utah again. Randy has been a Captain in the Air Force at McCord Air Force Base in Washington. He is leaving the service to make a home in Utah. President Staples and Lorraine are proud to be new grandparents again with the arrival of a baby girl to Boyd and Denise (Staples) Christiansen of Fillmore, on Aug. 16th. The little miss had a sister, Holly, and brother, Ryan, awaiting her arrival from the hospital. Melba Staples is spending some time in American Fork two-fol- her son, Dave, family. On Aug. Anita 17th, Whitaker Bishop Ray Higgs took her Bee Hive brought the following Scouts Girls on a trip to Lagoon; from the Ward to with These girls had earned their money for this outing by selling refreshments at the baseball games held at Kanosh during the summer. The following girls enjoyed this special day: Sherri Whitaker; Jolene Adams; Shannon Rider; Danene and DeAnn Perkins; Kirsten Whatcott; Sharon and Stacey Koyle; Sheri Kay Christensen; Yolanda Rogers; Caroline Christensen and Diana Williams. Other chaperones going were Nola Whatcott and Jo Ann Turner. John and Teresa Adams are making progress on their new home being built across the road West of the Baseball diamond in Kanosh. They have sold their other home to a family from Henry-villUtah are and now occupying the Jenny Adams home. Jay and Susie Robison and three children have moved from Kanosh to Flowell. They sold their home (the former Vie Bement home) to Brent and Evelyn Foy from Cedar City, who have five children: Jennifer; Joshua; Jeremy; and twins Katie and Kerry. Mr. Foy is an Electrician. They are close friends of Phil and Sharon Blad and family, who have purchased the former Leonard Abraham home. Charles and Winifred Williams have enjoyed a weeks visit from their son, Von, his wife, Lauri, and three children, Kevin; Kelly; and Diana, from Agua Dulcia, Calif. Van and Metta George are proud of their son, Duane, and his wife, Jackie, who both recently graduated from the BYU in Provo; Duane graduating from Engineering and Jackie form Nursing. Duane will be an Engineer e, By Angie Green On Aug. 20, Elaine Goddard accompanied by her daughter, Shirley Brunson, and her grandson, Mark Brunson, both of Tooele, went to Provo to attend the graduation ceremony at the BYU in which Shirleys husVem Brunson, band, graduated with a masters degree in education. After spending the entire day attending a variety of functions on the campus they went to Tooele to celebrate Mark's 12th birthday. Elaine then drove to Salt Lake to attend the MHS class of 32 reunion held at the Lion House. Elaine said she really had a good time talking over old times with classmates she hadnt seen for 50 years. Clarence Davies went to SLC to be with his daughter, Elaine, who recently lost her Nichol. Royce husband, Elaines house was filled to overflowing with children so and grandchildren, Clarence stayed with his son, Bill Davies. After Elaine's children had all returned to their various homes and was Elaine thoroughly involved again in her job as a teachers aid did Clarence consider returning home. On Aug. 16 two of Clarences granddaughters brought him home, but he is ready to pack a bag and return to SLC if Elaine feels she needs his strong shoulders again. Myrtle Beauregard spent an enjoyable week with her sister. Ruby Akin of Logan. Ruby came Aug. 14 and the two sisters dug right in making every minute count. They love to talk and reminisce so they thoroughly remembering enjoyed together every detail of a recent trip the three sisters AMERICAN Myrtle, Ruby, and Lillie took to Canada. They went by plane from SLC to Seattle, and then by ship to Victoria and then on to Vancouver. They toured extensively at each stop mduding the beautiful Bouchart Gardens in Victoria. When they were on the plane the pilot announced they were going ( almost over) Mt. St. Helens, and it could be viewed from the windows. The sisters agreed this was a thrilling and exciting experience and one of the highlights of their trip. Lan Turner, son of Don and Ella Vee Turner had returned home after spending the summer in New Jersey, working for his brother-in-laJeff Mathusek, laying hard wood floors. Lan is registering for school at the Utah Tech, in SLC. Now that Lan has been introduced properly to slivers and sawdust he feels that, for him, construction is the only way to go. Another news item in the Roland Turner family, Turner, brother to Don, and former Fillmore resident, is moving back home. Roland and family have been living in Boise, Idaho, but they want to be back in Fillmore again with their family and friends, so they are going through all the moving pains: selling their home, transporting furniture, and locating a suitable home in Fillmore. On Aug. 19 Bill and Lena Moyes accompanied by their daughter, Doris Remington, her daughter and husband, Tanya and Zane Muman, and two grandsons. Darby Hinton and Lase Levi, went to SLC to attend the wedding and reception of Bill and DREAM OWNERSHIP If you OF Sacrament meeting Aug. 22nd was conducted by Counselor Gordan Staples, who reminded the congregation of General Priesthood meeting to be held at the Stake House next Sunday, Aug. 29th, at 7:45 a.m. Prayers were offered by Glen Whitaker and Richard Perkins. Youth speaker: Danene Perkins. Vocal solo: I believe by Curtis Hare accompanied by Martha Stott. Guest speaker: Arnold Pugh from Hatton, Utah. It was a very enjoyable meeting. Lenas grandson, Craig Fillmore Highlights ' Northpoint enjoy camping and fishing up in the Pole Canyon area above Kanosh: John Wunderlich; Aaron Bremer; Clint Guffey; Wayne Cox and Nichlas Ormon. Nichlas is an exchange student from Sweden, who will be spending the next 11 months in Salt Lake. This group, along with Scout David Whitaker, were dinner guests of Willard and Dathel Whitakers on Aug. 20th. Bishop Whitaker is now employed by the U.S. Dept, of Agriculture on the Federal Milk Marketing order. Guests at the home of Kehon and Ethel White are their son, Jim, his wife, Sandra, and two sons, Jan (17) and Spencer (15) from Petaluma, Calif. It was a happy reunion because Jim hadnt been home for two years. Bishop David Christensen, and family wife, Gaye, attended a missionary farewell Sunday Aug. 22nd, in SLC for their niece, Sue Kimball, daughter of Dan Kimball. Sue will be serving in the Helsinki Finland Mission. of Deha, Utah and they drove to Palo Alto, Calif, where they visited at the home of their brother, Daryl Pearson. Mrs. Lu Juana (Pearson) Smith flew in from Illinois to join the group for a visit and family reunion. While on their way the Pearsons spent two nights at the MGM in Reno, Nevada as a guest of Dale and Norma's son, Regg, who is employed there. The group spent seven days visiting and sightseeing in the San Francisco area. It was a very special occasion and they had a wonderful time. The family was all there except Mrs. Nona (Pearson) Chesley of Delta, she was ill and unable to attend. Miss Wendy Edwards of Meadow and Mrs. Terry Penney of Fillmore visited and shopped in the Provo area the past week. Stanley and Da Pearson have had a very exciting month. It started off on July 29th when they traveled to Idaho Falls to witness the marriage of their grandson, Randell Briggs, in the Idaho Falls Temple. Randell is the son of Mrs. La Rayne (Pearson) Briggs of SLC. La Raynes sisters and her family all attended the wedding. Following the ceremony a wedding breakfast was held and that evening the wedding reception was held at the Briggs home in Salt Lake. Aug. 8th Stan and Da joined his brother Dale and his wife, Norma Pearson, ceremony. Craig is die son of Mr. and Mrs. Olin Hinton of Henderson, Nev. and is a physician at the LDS Hospital in SLC. Tricia is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Roland L. Williams of SLC. She is a student at the U of U. Joyce and Steve Frampton also attended the wedding. The Daughters of Utah Pioneers are holding a seminar for all East Millard Camp officers Aug. 30 at 2 p.m. in the reading room at the Fillmore City Building.
