The largest and most influential of these organizations is the General Federation of Womens Clubs, with headquarters in Washington, D.C. The smallest very unit of this powerful organization, is a Womens Gub consisting of at least ten women. If there are a number of women's clubs in the same town or city, they form a Gub Council governed by a Council president, the Gub Councils form a District with its own set of officers. The Districts form the State Organization, which in turn has its own set of officers and committees. The State clubs form the national or General Federation of Womens Gubs with affilithe world. ates all Many of the laws concerning our juvenile courts, pure food and drug acts, laws concerning the health of the people of our nation, laws which concern the upgrading of our way of life, the education of our people, what can be taught in our schools, and what is required from those who teach, have originated in the meetings of the General Federation of Womens Clubs. Likewise, many proposed laws which the women did not think were beneficial to the majority of our people were the defeated through efforts of the members of the General Federation of Womens Gubs. Our East Millard Fine Arts Guild was organized February 4, 1944, and became federated with the General Federation of Womens Gubs March 25, 1947. Our motto is, When Love and Work Skill Together, Expect a Masterpiece. Our Prayer; Let me do my work each day; and if the darkened hours of me, despair overcome May I not forfeit the strength that comforted me, In the desolation of other times, Spare me from bitterness, and from the sharp passions of moments. unguarded May I not forget that poverty and riches are of the spirit. Forbid that I should judge others, lest I condemn myself. Let me not follow the clamour of the world, but walk calmly in my path. Give me friends who will love me for what I am, and keep ever burning before my vagrant steps the kindly light of hope. And though age and infirmity overtake me, and I come not in sight of the castle of my dreams, teach me still to be thankful for life and for times golden memories that are good and sw.eet, and may the evening twilight find me gentle still. Be May Ehmann. The East Millard Fine Arts Guild has won more awards than any Gub in the Nebo District. This year we won the C.I.P. award of $200 from the Nebo District, and S400 from the state, and added more money to this in order to purchase playground equipment for the North Park. We have also planted several hundred dollars worth of trees and shrubs to help with the landscaping of this beautiful Park. Past Presidents of the Fine Arts Guild are: lone C.
