He pinned his North Sanpete opponent and won his match in the Wayne Tournament. He defeated Matt Lowrey of Richfield, 5 which gives him 3 firsts and 1 third in Region competition. The 167 weight is one of the two hardest and most competitive weights in Region. Since early in Junior High, Sam has been dedicated to the Millard High Wrestling program. He is a dedicated team member, which is exhibited by his willingness to train and always put the team ahead of personal desires. He is starting to reap the benefits of his hard work this year. This week in the Delta Dual, he pinned Russ Young, he pinned his opponet from South Sevier, and at the North Sanpete Tournament he defeated his first two opponents, giving him second place. He was held out of the Championship match, however, due to circumstances beyond his control. Sam is serving as a Captain this year, and is doing a commendable job. This was very educational for the students. Through this experience they learned the importance of testing children at a young age for hearing, seeing, or physical handicaps. We also visited the Hansen Fanetarium where a special show was presented, entitled, To Worlds Unknown. This was a presentation of American achievements in space which are explored in a simulated flight around the solar system with close-u- p views of landings on all planets. Coach Richard Probert said, The team really has a good attitude and are working hard to achieve their goals this year. A special feature for the ladies will be a luncheon with Shirley Sealey as guest speak Thomas Irwin Guest succumbs Thomas Irwin Guest, 66, of Kanos h, Utah died Jan. 21, 1982 in a Salt Lake City hospital. He was born Jan. 29, 1915 in Detroit, Michigan to Jarvis W. and Margaret Burton Guest. He married Lenore Curtis on July 25, 1935 in Port Huron, Michigan. He is survived by: wife, Kanosh; sons and daughters, Thomas J., Mesa, Esklund passes away Gregg L. Gregg Laver Esklund, 25, died Jan. 22, 1982 in Price as a result of an accident. He was born Feb. 21, d 1956 in Salt Lake to Francis and Lorna May Laver Esklund. He worked for Utah Power & Light Co., Hunter Fant, in Castle Dale. He graduated from the Carbon High School in 1974.
