for this year’s primary election to be returned through the mail before Feb 4 Only voters in Delta and Fillmore ill be going to the polling stations in February All other ballots are being sent through the mail to be returned by mail Voters receiving ballots are not eligible for early voting “The ballots need to be filled out and turned as soon as possible" said Norma Brunson Millard County Clerk “The ballots received in the mail are not informational or test ballots They are the real w thing" maries being held in Utah and 16 other states State legislatures and parties have moved their presidential primaries forward to give their states a greater say in the selection of the nominees In January 2006 Senate Bill S B 60 was introduced to hold a presidential primary on the first Tuesday in February known as the Western States Presidential Primary The idea of organizing a Western states primary early in the nominating year to give Western states a greater say in national politics had been considered for several years The Senate passed the bill by a wide margin with the House following up later Gov Jon Huntsman Jr (R) signed the measure into law on Mar 212006 In the 2000 Western Primary eight Western states were supposed to group together in early March to focus attention on Western issues Only Colorado holdUtah and Wyoming participated ing contests on March 10 Advocates continued voter a choice of candidates from their party only For example nine candidates are listed on the Republican ballot If one’s choice of candidate is “Ron Paul" then the voter would darken the oval next this candidate’s name using a black ink pen or a pencil Erasing one mark and marking another choice could cause the ballot to be voided Voters are asked to use care in marking their ballots
