Show Millard Countv Honored by DUP Daughters of the Utah Pioneers Round Valley Camp will honor Sarah Loramc Wasdcn Monroe at our Annual Pioneer Days celebrations Loraine was bom to Carl and Ida Johnson Wasden on 1224 1910 in Holden in her grandparents home She was the eldest of ten children They soon moved to Scipio and lived with her parents until 1917 w hen the family moved to Delta She well remembers the boys from Scipio The leaving by train for World War family moved back to Scipio in 1919 and she lived in the Wasdcn home Loraine attended grade school in Scipio and graduated from Millard Loraine had High School in 1929 a beautiful soprano voice and began singing at a young age She sang in many school functions church meetings and programs and at funerals After high school she went to Salt Lake and studied voice and music at McCune School of Music She has served in all the organization of the LDS church and in town positions and was active in the Utah State Cowbelle Association for many years She still maintains an active interest in the cattle industry Loraine married Merlin Monroe in Room Tax Continued from front page nomic growth within the County by encouraging greater numbers of trips to overnight stays and Millard County Responsibilities of the Tourism Committee include review funding recommend funding applications amounts and or purchase to promote Millard County develop branding of Millard County which can be used for promotional efforts recommend most effective promotional methods andor materials within budgetary alities and rendering advice on the development of plans policies and procedures that will enhance visitors’ experience to Millard County Requests for funding will need to be processed through the Tourism Committee and the Millard County Commission Funding requests are to be submitted to the Tourism Committee which meets once a month If approved the request will be sent on to the County Commission which meets regularly every Monday less otherwise scheduled Four to six weeks must be allowed for an plication to be fully considered A quest for funding does not guarantee approval Management and oversight of the Tourism Budget is the responsibility of the County Commission The Commission is supportive of private enterprise within Millard County However it is strongly recommended by the Millard County Attorney that TRT revenues not be granted to private business owners who are sponsoring their own events When appropriate it may be possible to only seed money provide or fund promotional materials such as hats or other items Events may be funded through Millard County’s Tourism Committee in different methods First funds may be granted up to 3 of the event's total impact on cal hotel and restaurant businesses Second the Committee may allocate up to $500 to be spent by the Tourism Committee to promote Millard County (For example providing Third the visors cups or Committee may fund the entire quested amount An application must be filled out and submitted prior to being placed on the agenda for the Tounsm meeting Applicants will be given minutes to answer any questions and explain the request Completed applications must be turned to the Millard County Offices at 71 South 200 West P0 Box 854 Delta L tah X4624 or 50 South Main Fillmore Utah 411 Check with Deb Haveron at the Millard County Offices in Delta for the dates agenda deadlines and locations of the tounsm meetings Cal! 4te KM 1400 or FAX 4fH KM 1404 for more information If a request is approved applicants w ill be required to complete an ev and submit it with samples of etc after the promotional event has taken place If evaluation and materials are not submitted ture requests fir funding will net be considered Weha vejustjth e stuffJttfaJ:you y mighCneedTf f J -
