orks (along ith assistance from Jammie Stanworth Lynnerte Hanson and Scott Bassett) scrubbed mopped waxed and buffed the new hallway floors at Delta North Elementary Over 125 woman AND man hours were logged in making our hallways sparkle for returning vacationers Tuesday morning W e sincerely appreciate the efforts of this great crew Their w eekend “labor” went well beyond the scope of their elections were held at FMS on Thurs Aug 30 The election process began early that week with primary elections and campaigning The final event was a campaign assembly followed by the voting in advisory classes Natalie Day was elected student body president Natalie president Amanda Katie l editor and Easton manager Chelsey editor Fly Away school year won’t quite be the same with the departure of three very The busy bees namely Bonnie Nielson Duane Rawlinson and Sharon Judd The Delta North staff met Monday 27 August 2001 in the cafeteria for a farewell party honoring this great trio and of course we had to play Bonko Sharon’s favorite card game We thank the Kindergarten teachers for planning this special get together complete with great treats and lots of farewell tears Above all we thank Bonnie Duane and Sharon for their combined 3 years of sen ice to the Delta North Hive Bonnie Nielson is now a Conquering Coyote in the Delta South Duane Rawlinson is the Vice Principal of the Deita Middle School Vikings and Sharon Judd is now Mrs Scott Sabin and w ill take up residence in Denver Colorado Delta North is a far better place today because these three delightful characters once graced our hallways We will miss each of them greatly We wish them the very best in their new assignments Jolene Dutson is the Lucky Winner! 29 August 2001 VVednesday was Jolene Dutson’s lucky day at Delta North Elementary' Jolene’s name was picked from a bucket full of 140 names of students who had completed their summer homework packets Jolene was awarded a family swimming pass to the West Millard Swimming Pool facility' She was all smiles as Title Manager Teresa Hostetler presented her with a certificate of congratulations Many DNES Busy Bees worked hard through the summer months to complete a grade level homework packet We appreciate their hard labor and the support of their families with this worthwhile project AH individuals who completed the packets will be awarded ice cream students Thurs Sept 6 The meeting started with Joshua Keel Michael Burr Tyrel Lytle and Michael Stumph posting the colors Jennifer Henke presented the budget which was approved As president of the revamped PTA approved as a parent support group Amber Lovell conducted the meeting and introduced her board Principal Mitch Myers welcomed the students and parents back and emphasized faithful school attendance and reading minutes every day He also introduced new staff members Karolyn Wamick is the new school secretary with Mary Wright as an office aide Came Stephenson is the new media director and Bonnie Nielson is teaching since Jenene Monroe moved to fourth grade Mr Glenn Haslam moved from teaching first grade to second The fourth grade then sang “Utah' This Is The Place” directed by Mrs Monroe and Mrs Nikki Bliss after which the parents and students visited the various classes for presentation Delta South Welcomes Students Delta South has over 500 students this school year The teachers have the names of their students listed outside their rooms in very clever ways starting with the preschool’s so “mice" to meet you' Kindergarten students are gingerbread men because “Sugar and Spice our classes are so nice ” Students in one class are caterpillars while others are bees in a “honey of a class " Other students are records in the class list of great hits Two classes are toads — one group leaping into second grade while the other class is a “toadally awesome third grade class ” One class of students are gears gearing fora great year while another class are a batch of cookies Other students are sunflowers an all star line up or banners “piggin out on a banner year ” Two classes focused on the Olympics with superstars and a gold medal class Mrs Tafia Watson has joined the ulty of FMS as a Special Education teacher Previously she had been teaching Special Ed at the Fillmore Elementary School for the past twelve years Dunrg that time among other accomplishments she organized a values program which has been used in four districts in two states Mrs Watson received her bachelors degree from Brigham Young University and Southern Utah University and her masters degree from Utah State University Mrs Watson is originally from Provo and met her husband Kerry at a college singles activity there He is also an educator teaching at Millard High School They have seven children and six grandchildren When the Watson’s were first married and moved to Fillmore they planned to stay for a year or two at the most They soon came to love the people of the area and have been here for thirty years Mrs Watson is very busy outside of school She is involved with church and family activities as well as community theater Mrs Watson looks at her move to the 1 1 middle school as an adventure She says she is very impressed by the friendliness and great attitude of the faculty and staff readers are shopping for a new car purchase a used vehicle this aboard our teaching staff Mary recently accepted an signment as a day Special Education teacher at our school She has worked previous ly at our school as a Special Education Instructional Assistant She will continue m this capacity as well for the other 14 of her day Mrs Preston was born in Tucson Arizona She has a twin brother and two older sisters She attended Marshall ementary in Flagstaff and graduated from Flagstaff High School She has completed college work at both the University of Arizona and Utah State University She has lived in various states including Arizona Washington Arkansas Michigan Hawaii and Utah She has also lived in Labrador' Mrs Preston met her husband Stanton He is a in Grand Rapids Michigan tive of Safford Arizona The Prestons have four children namely Sarah Stacy Margaret and Madeline In the past Mrs Preston has worked as a 4 grade teacher at both Delta South and Delta North Elementanes She has a as Media also worked Specialist and in the Special Education department Before returning to work full time Mrs Preston was a substitute teacher for the Millard County School District From her elementary years Mrs Preston recalls living in Goose Bay
