5th Amendment right to not testify in the Wood trial “This is a matter Mr Archuleta has a right to make a decision in" Park told jurors "You arc not to draw a conclusion about that (me way or another” Masner a fingerprint expert said he found two fingerprints on the victim’s car that matched Wood’s He also said he found Archuleta’s prints tm a lamp in the trunk of the car to Wood enroute “He goes ’oh this is your first time huh?'” B urns said Wood told him “like this was no big deal And I was really sick you know” Bums ordered Archuleta’s immediate arrest and made arrangements to find the victim "Is there a chance that this individual is still alive?” Bums asked Wood said he didn’t think so Robert Dekker also interviewed Wood They talked a few minutes after the body was found The story was again similar to those Wood had told earlier Wood told Dekker Church talked to Archuleta when he was sexually saulted along the freeway “He was kind Friday of screaming” Wood said “Not screaming real loud just begging ‘Don't kill me’” At Dog Valley Wood told Dekker “I heard the dude say ’You’re going to kill me aren’t you?’ and Archuleta said Scott Bums took the stand He said an interview with he Wood at about 2 am Nov 23 after Graff called h im He read from a written transcript of that interview The narrative was similar to the testimony offered earlier by Siech Stapley and Graff Archuleta drove from the crime scene north to Salt Lake City He talked ’No’“ When he helped drag the body to the grave Wood said “I guess I grabbed a hold of the chains because I didn't want to touch the body” Why did he help Archuleta Dekxer asked “Only because I was scared for my life as well" Wood said Wood was also interviewed by Deputy Charles Stewart The narrative was again recorded and the transcript from it read to jurors It resembles earlier versions of the crime ss told by Wood Wood told Stewart he tried to stop Archuleta “I tried to stop him and go ’No Mike no Cool it’ I wanted to get out" Why didn’t he? “There ain't no sense talking to a guy when a dude is “I was riled like this" Wood said scared” On Nov 24 Thanksgiving Day Deputy Masner and Deputy DeVon Quamberg videotaped a reenactment of the crime The video was shown to the jury Again the story was similar to earlier versions Wood had told Prosecutors continued to present their case Monday March 5 The trial was expected
