Our new appointees replace Dwight Moody and Garth Block For those of you that like to read during the wee hours of the morning wc have just what you need - Large print books Our supply is getting better all the time There is something for everyone - romance thrillers and western SPRING she added some of their recipes in their own handwriting It made a nice keepsake Alycia has been a junior leader and a leader They have been interesting experiences She found out that “There are different types of kids and you need to use different techniques in teaching each type" Kathy Anderson of Delta credits with teaching her how to sew She was enrolled in sewing for 5 or 6 years and now makes many of her own clothes Kathy participated in the teen council and really enjoyed the activities they had Along with other teen council members she had the opportunity to help out with camp with other teen council members The program has been a good learning experience for her Happy Birthday Dr Seuss! March 2 1990 marks the 86th birthday of one of the most beloved authors of modern-dachildren's books Theodore Seuss Geisel commonly known as “Dr Seuss” in Born 1904 in Springfield Mass Geisel developed his unique draw ing sty le as a young boy and later worked as a cartoonist The success of “And to Think That his first book Saw It on Mulboth berry Street” which Geisel wrote and illustrated led to his career in children’s literature and the subsequent publication of numerous other children’s books Among the most mous are “How the Grinch Stole Christmas” and Geisel’s favorite “The Lorax" an environmental tale about a Sneed factory chopping down Truffula trees Geisel's creative approach to writnonsensical verse ing — combining with moralistic values — has made his txxiks a favorite among children of all ages Geisel who now lives in La Jolla receives as many as 20 0(X) birthday greetings each year 11 Calif 1990 Serve & Dan Nielsen 4-- H Spotlight Dan Nielsen a senior at Delta High School is involved in many projects Some of his projects include archery wildlife and science Dan was a member of the Team that Shooting represented Millard County at the State Contest in Logan Dan also presented an illustrated talk on the uses of Beryllium He received a blue ribbon on the county and state level for his efforts Dan is an honor student at Delta High School He is a member of the National Honor Society and the FBLA He attended Boy State in 988 and has been on the state math team for 3 years In his spare time Dan has been involved in the production of "Are the Meadowlarks Still Singing" He has also received his Brown Belt in Karate Dan is an Eagle Scout and has served 3 years on the Staff at Timbcrline Scout Camp Dan loves to ski play computer games and go camping He specialist course at Keeslcr Air Force Base Miss Graduates of the course learned how to prepare Air Force correspondence and reports and earned credits toward an associate degree in applied science through the Community College of the Air Force Robison is the son of Stanley K and Cathy F Robison of 150 West 400 South Delta Utah Dan Nielsen flys to the Air Force Academy An official letter of appointment to the US Air Force Academy arrived in the mail to Daniel Nielsen on Wed Feb 21 The letter came after the completion of several applications and physicals interviews with academy recruiters and nominations from the Utah Senators and The military academy Representatives makes the final appointment “I’m really excited to go” said Nielsen “I know it will be challenging but it will also be fun” Dan knows he has made the right choice by accepting the appointment He plans to attend Cadet Orientation in April to receive a taste of Air Force life While attending the Academy Dan plans to become either a pilot or an electrical engineer William Foster DHS Counselor said “This is the first time Delta High will have two alumni attending the Air Force Academy at the same time” There have been about five other DHS students who have attended the academy Dan is involved in many other activi- ties including working at Losee Lumber and being the Science Sterling Scholar in FBLA MathTcamYCC and the Drafting and Vocational Team AMPUTATION’S - Nearly 45 percent of all leg and foot amputation in the US are caused by diabetes Eve- LaVcm Theobald has returned home after spending most of the winter with her children In November she and all of them Elaine Leon Eda Verrue Grace Paul Joyce and Merlin attended the funeral in Las Vegas of a son and brother Golden Theobald who died of cancer He married Carol Ellertson of Ncphi January 16 1954 Lived in Hinckley Milford and moved to Las Vegas about 20 years ago He was a Heavy Equipment Operator He graduated from Delta High School another funeral in Orem For another brother Verrue Theobald who died in the Utah Valley Hospital following a short illness Laurel P Rohlfing Primary General Board To Speak ness School in Boston and attended B righam Y oung Universi ty Her interest include music gardening and Golf Sister Rohlfing was bom in Berkley California She married Thomas Rohlfing in the Salt Lake LDS Temple and they are the parents of 2 children She w as called to the Prim ary General Board in 1985 and currently serves on the special needs and Music Committees She is also responsible for the sharing time page in the friend magazine Prior to her call to the general board she served as ward and stake Primary president counselor in ward and stake young women and ward Relief Society presidencies She is also a former member of the Tabernacle Choir Sister Rohlfing is active in PTA and has been a member of Junior League working on child welfare issues She received a Bachelor of Science degree in elementary education from the University of Utah All primary leaders and teachers in the Fillmore Delta and Delta West Stakes are encouraged to attend Janice M Piccolo and Laurel P Rohlfing of the FYimary General Board will be speaking at a primary meeting for all primary leaders and teachers March 8th from 7 to 9 pm in the Delta 1st and 2nd Ward 222 W 200 N Delta Sister Piccolo was bom and raised with Italian Catholic background in Boston Massachusetts As an adult she was converted to the LDS Church She has a unique role in the primary office In addition to having a calling as General Secretary and member of the General Board she is employed as administrative assistant to the Primary General President She was originally called as Primary general secretary in 1978 During the past ten years sister Piccolo has served with three general presidents and has been involved in all phases of the work Prior to this call sister Piccolo served in many church ward young capacities including womans of her thirty ninth great grandchild The very happy parents are Tim and Linda Tanner Baby’s name is William Jerry Tanner bonus for nurses The Air Force is now offering a $5000 bonus to nurses who join
