they must have an assignment from the class they are making up If students arrive without their books will not be admitted they Mr Dave Noah a teacher is supervisor of the eighth hour Students spend their time m his classroom Most of the students that attend are juniors and seniors He says that there have been as few as three kids a day and as many as 70 or 80 students in one day Mr Noah gets paid extra for spending his time after school There is an average of about 20 students a day that go to eighth period They are to report to his room at 3 10 and can leave at 4 p m Progress eents MHS b Tami Reynolds The attendance policy at Delta High School brought a new system of discipline Gone are the days when students were suspended for three days or made to go to Saturday school for sluffing and absences Those old forms of entorcement have been replaced by the new eighth period Eighth hour is 5 minutes after school when students make up for time they were not in class Students are required to be m class 90 percent of the time when they miss more than four days they are in violation of this requirement and must make up the missed time in eighth period On the fifth and every absence thereafter students are required to attend eighth period for an hour Students do not have to make up for school activities but every other absence (more than four) must be made up Another way students may end uo in eighth period is by sluffing Every time they sluff a class they must make up the time not spent in class by attending an eighth period This rule applies even if students have not exceeded four absences A third way students can be awarded an eighth period is as a disciplinary action When students are tardy three times in the same class they must go to an eighth hour Dand Taylor also will send a student to eighth period for swearing at a teacher or fighting being a public menace or t bromcle f’ndtr S3 U Senior ituenv S3 Senior on A I nder A u erm Shows subject to
