dollars per year Bob Burnham is obviously aware of the economic impact of high power rates Such an awareness will keep him striving to keep the rates as low as possible His extensive business experience gives him the insight to look for opportunities to reduce costs He asks for your support to make this happen is co8 Rosalie Cross District owner of Ely Auto Glass with her husband Ken Her experiences in life have taught her to be practical use common sense and be fair a good She will be a peacemaker for the board listener and She intends to make meetings decisions She telligent has ample time to serve She is looking forward to serving as a caring responsive member of the Mt Wheeler Power Board Ferrel D Hansen District 8 currently serves as the Executive Vice President of the White Pine Chamber of Commerce in Ely The reason he decided to run for a seat on the Mt Wheeler Board of Directors is very simple he felt that the experience he has received in management and local politics could be valuable to the membership of Mt Wheeler Specifically he is concerned about some issues facing the cooperative such as the secrecy or at least implied secrecy of Mt Wheeler In any Board executive sessions capacity he has served executive seson occasion sions are necessary However he cannot foresee that there sessions for should be executive anything other than personal issues Dad debt issues and in some cases pending litigation Another issue that concerns him is board expenses There is no reason why any members of the Cooperative should not be able to gain access to the 1988 Mt Wheeler Power elections scheduled and teen as its general manager president Young feels that as a Director of a one must serve consumer owned the needs of the membership first He believes all decisions made must be based on principles of fairness to the entire group Supportive of Mt Wheeler Power’s involvement in the White Pine Power Project Young also feels the should continue to search for methods of stabilizing and strengthening the area’s existing economy--iagriculture in mining and in for ways to diversify the economics of Mt Wheeler Power’s service area Emerson W Gonder District attract new cooperators businesses and other industries to the area With the new prison coming and the possibility of the new Power Plant in the future the future of Ely is on an uphill grade With this growth facing us the Cooperative needs to look at the impact this will have on our city Since the cooperative belongs to all of us everyone should try to serve a term on the board would appreciate the opportunity to serve with you at this time Harvey W Young District 4 has been employed for the past 26 years in his family’s business in Ely the last fif- 0F organizers He is presently An 6 6 3 3 d-Faslii- oned Outdoor Join records of Mt Wheeler dealing with the expenses or fees of any or all of the board members for what ever period of time they wish to see Finally he is concerned about the majority influence of irrigators on the Mt Wheeler board Six of the nine and a strong members are irrigators case can be made for a seventh This is not necessarily bad However 70 percent of Mt Wheeler’s consumers are in the urban areas of the White Pine and they have only 33 percent of the vote He is concerned about the cost of production for these irrigators They have to make a profit just as other businesses do however he does not believe that further subsidies by other rate classes are the answer Assisting these irrigators in making their systems more energy efficient is the answer and one that would not have to be subsidized by others Most of the service area of Mt Wheeler Power will be seeing economic growth in the future consequently the Cooperative will have to meet new challenges in responding to more deHe would like to help the mand cooperative and its members meet those challenges George E Mower District 8 “I can truthfully say that always my main concern has been for my fellow man and know I can contribute if elected would operate as I always have— that is as if the money belonged to me and came the hard way not treated as if money spent is just a drop in the bucket In other words I operate ‘lean and clean’ When elected to serve I am asking to be called on to take to any questions by any management member because it is a fact that the way to efficient operation starts with communication and ends with cooperation because it can be solved I am for fair and equal rates for every user I know what to do and how to do it” us RaBBy as Jon Huntsman
