discussion was held on the Fourth of July Celebration Costs of a celebration are spiraling she noted and asked for suggestions Glen Swalberg volunteered the Chamber to head up the celebration He reported that the Chamber is also planning another Great Basin National Park celebration in June 1988 When asked about Hay Days Mr Swalberg said that the Great Basin National Park celebration replaces Hay Days Mayor Hansen reported that over $200000 had been spent last year on fireworks In the meantime costs have risen As the celebration is for residents of all West Millard County it was suggested that perhaps the County could be persuaded to “pitch in” on that cost Councilman Rex Harris was assigned by the Mayor to approach the County on the matter Councilman Wes Bloomfield asked for permission of the young men’s group of Delta Seventh Ward to stage a garage sale Saturday April 9 on the tennis courts The sale would be in progress from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm All councilmen present were whether water needed to maintain the park had been dedicated to the City Supt Forster reported that the sprinkling system which is already installed at Del Park will need repairs plus installation of a Councilman meter will be required David Church moved to table the matter two weeks to give Attorney time to research on dedication of streets and parks His motion was seconded by Gayle Bunker and dogs She was led by Mayor Hansen reported that only 40 dogs had been licensed to date She cited regulations in effect in both Hinckley and Cedar She City to control the problem recommended that a late fee of $1000 be levied in addition to the regular 1988 the license fee Since January City has spent $11373 on dog control $55625 has been added to City coffers through the license sales License fees have remained the same for a number of years: spayed or neutered dogs $500 unspayed or unneutered $1000 “Even if the dogs are licensed owners are in violation if they allow their pets to run loose”
