article to children’s books books are and authors Children’s books geared for children from babies to early readers Actually there is no real age limit for I found myself enjoying many of them Here are a few of the authors and some information about them “Eva Ericksson was bom in Halmstad Sweden and completed her studies in Stockholm In 1973 the birth of her first child inspired Ms Ericksson to begin writing and illustrating children’s stories and many internationally acclaimed books have followlives outside of ed She currently Stockholm with her husband and their two children” Ms Ericksson has written four books featuring Victor and Rosalie They are Jealousy One Short Week s and The Tooth Trip Margaret Wise Brown wrote many books dealing with the emotions of children Her death in 1952 cut short her talent for writing She has left however a treasury of books Two of my favorites are Goodnight Moon and Runaway Bunny Tomie de Paola lives in Wilmot Flat New Hampshire in a farmhouse which appears in the book Some of the Pancakes for Breadfast people in the book are his neighbors Some of his other stories are The Knight and the Dragon and Strega Nona He’s one of my favorites Some of my other favorites are Else Tana Hoban Homelund Minarik Russell Hoban Mercer Meyer Stanley Berenstain and of course Dr Suess Now I’d like to list some suggested titled and authors which checked out frequently: “A Kiss for Little Bear” by Else Homelund Minarik “Naptime” by Gylbert Coker “Spring” by John Patience “Curious George” by H A Adventures” by Rey “Pinocchio’s Walt Your Own Adventure “Alexander and the TerriNo Good Very Bad ble Horrible Day” by Judith Viorst “But No Elephants” by Jerry Smath “My New Mom and Me” by Betty Ren Wright “Bread and Jam for Frances” by Russell Hoban “Making the Team” “The Hundred by Nancy Carlson Dresses” by Eleanor Estes “The First Rains” by Peter Bonici “The Six Little Possums and the Babysitter” by March McGill There are still many more books available It was really hard for me to just select a few I would recommend most of them but if I did it may take a whole page in newspaper and my hand would get cramps from writing so much Reading is fun Why not start your children out young and now Reading is found to increase knowledge vocabulary and study skills Children who read are better students because they can concentrate rather than be Have your children take entertained time to read and read with them Nostalgia Isn’t what It used to be Tenebrae service to be conducted A service of Tenebrae will be conducted at Delta Community on Maundy Church Presbyterian Thursday April 16 at 7:30 pm Tenebrae is one of the oldest traditions 4 the Christian The word Church means “shadows” Seven candles of equal size and an eighth centered are arranged in the worship center All of the candles are lighted as the service begins During the course of the service as successive chapters of the story of Christ’s passion and death are read the candles are extinguished one by one until finally only the center candle is left burning This candle is then carried from the room which is left in complete darkness At a signal symbolizing the dawn of Easter the still burning light is brought back into the room The service symbolizes the increasing darkness as the passion story unfolds until with the death of Christ only one light is left burning the light of God’s love This light is out of the room for a little time to symbolize the three days in the tomb but is returns in glad anticipation of Easter Morning Special music will be provided by Glenda Otto who will grace the service with a rendition of the traditional spiritual “Were You There When They Crucified My Lord" The service will be completed with the Sacrament of the Lord’s Supper Regular Easter services will be conducted at 10 am on Sunday April 19 Siblings’ achievements recognized D and Cook Ron Cheryl Mortensen daughter and son of Fern Mortensen of Delta and
