Spring Clean-uCouncilman Jack McBride is in charge of the event He stated that the city will assist in the campaign by allowing residents to put limbs clippings and in the street for city materials employees to collect Councilman McBride noted that garbage to be collected by Mr Keel in the weekly garbage collection should be in the usual place on the street and refuse to be hauled by the city in a separate and easily identified pile Household garbage should not be included in the debris to be removed by the city cleanup crew The entire City Council urges everyone to take advantage of this time to do a good spring cleaning and that effort be made to remove an added trash weeds debris and anything not being used from city streets 326-4- DON'T FORGET the International Folk Dancers Saturday March 28 7:30 pm at the Millard High School gym Above Deon Dow and Joaquin Busquets perform "Poltavskyi Duet" a Ukrainian character dance BYU folk dancers to perform When audiences see the Brigham Folk Young University International Dancers perform they don’t just see dances from around the globe they often discover their cultural heritage Whether it be an equisite Korean “Fan Dance” the “Tancock” from the Szatmar region of Hungary or the exciting Spanish “Flamenco” the International Folk Dancers will present a captivating and varied program during its 90 minute show BYU has one Merlin and Zelda Ted and Norma Noma always enjoys her children and grandchildren coming for visits Bruce and Nancy returned to their home in Henderson March 19 Clarice Hurd and four children Michael Michelle Connie and Dorea came the afternoon of March 13 to visit their mother and grandmother Ruth Allen Clarice helped her mother with some work Ruth needed to have done They visited Clarice’s brothers and wives Dean and Shirley Rex and Lynn and their children The cousins have a great time together The Hurds returned to their home in Orem Sat evening Ruby Reeves has returned here to the home of her parents Frank and Dolly Bauer Ruby had bee here helping her parents then had to go to Colo because of the serious illness of a close friend Dolly Bauer is having another Ruby stay at the Fillmore Hospital Rick and Carol Bauer and little daughter Christina and Ruby’s daughter Shellie help to cheer grandpa energy enthusiasm and joy come from the performers Those watching will be caught during the spring break from his school at USAC His grandmothers Freda Christensen and Pauline are pleased to have him visit them at his parents’ home Fortunate young Dale man to have two loving grandmothers Brower and Peggy Ruthmary Robison received a telephone call Mar 19 from their sister Darlene Brower Utley telling them her husband Reed Utley had passed away earlier that day The Utleys are former Flowell residents Their First three children were born here This community extends sincere sympathy to Darlene and family This writer never thinks of Reed without seeing a happy fellow with a big broad smile Allan Lee completes training Pvt 1st Class Allan D Lee son of L Dean and Neva J Lee of Kanosh Utah has completed basic training at Fort Leonard Wood Mo During the training students received instruction in drill and ceremonies weapons map reading tactics military courtesy military justice first aid and Army history and traditions' His wife Caroleen is the daughter of Hal K Of course March being the fickle month it is there is not much we can do but enjoy each day for what it is I received a bit of happy news from Maxine Augsburger (mother of John here in Meadow) who is staying in Stockton CA with her daughter and Sandra and Rick Albritton Maxine wanted her friends here to know that she has a new grandson bom on March 9 to SanShane Rickey dra and Rick All are doing fine but Maxine said little Rickey isn’t much fun yet because all he does is sleep Wait that will change! a while Grandma Roma Bird journeyed to Salt Lake and Provo to join daughter Marilyn who flew in from So Andegard California on March 12 They had an enjoyable time visiting with other family members attending the Temple and shopping It was a fast few days for Roma was back at the organ in church on the 15th March 17 was not only St Patrick’s Day but also the 145th birthday of the Relief Society Organization of the LDS Church Here in Meadow Ward a gala birthday party was held complete with party hats games good food and happy visiting It was good to see Beverly Beckstrand still recovering from back surgery Heidi Rhodes recently out of the hospital and Pearl Swallow home from her extended stay in California also with all the other lovely ladies from out of town Not making it back in time for the party was Mary Starkey She and Jay have been in Arizona for two weeks At first they were in Bouse Arizona with daughter Marilyn Anderson and her son Destry then the four of them drove to Phoenix for a family gathering with Marilyn’s children and their families: Kevin and Linda Bennett Duane and Cindy Hoff and Tom and Kerri Healy To round out a fun vacation the Starkey’s attended a big Swap Meet where they found several very teresting items to bring home They had good weather during their trip and arrived home just in time for our lovely snow storm Happy Days! hostess This was a very enjoyable afternoon On Mar 10 Roena and Mac Shields flew from SLC to Ft Lauderdale Florida to spend a week with their husdaughter Claudeen Sutherland band Kelly and two children Cory and Amanda They were kept busy taking in all the sights among which was visiting Walt Disney World at Orlando in central Florida Shields report that the Kennedy Space Center is fantastic where they The saw Space Shuttle Columbia sights were unbelievable as they toured the base and saw the launching sight and building where the shuttle was put for launching which is one half the size of the Empire State Bldg They enjoyed seeing everything so ut missed our surpretty and rounding mountains Roena scheduled her flight so as to be back in Kanosh to take over her responsiblities as Leader Training in Scouting and is the son of Connie and Keith Gillins Danny Robison is the son of Gail and Reed Robison Danny is the Varsity Scout Team Capt and a hard worker according to Eric Larsen who gave Danny’s “Trail to Eagle” For his Eagle Project Danny sanded and painted 4 picnic tables at the Blue Star Park in Fillmore Eric Larsen presented Danny with his Eagle badge Stan Freeman is the son of Jim and Marilyn Freeman Stan was a Patrol Leader in his Troop and a recipient of the Arrow of Light His “Trail” was given by his father and his Eagle rank presented by Dennis Bond For his Eagle project Stan built a water fountain for the ball park in Meadow He RS to be the first ones to use the facilities of the new kitchen and the lovely round tables with their pretty clothes This was a special evening for the ladies Dean Shields who lives in Heber Utah was a guest of Mac and Roena Shields for 2 days recently Guests at the home of Bishop Vernon and Alice Christensen have been their daughter Teresa Monson husband Robert and two sons from SLC Bertha Peterson of Ferron Utah of Lula George was in Kanosh visiting Lula for one week She enjoyed being in attendance at the first meeting in the new ward chapel It’s like a family reunion at the home of Bob and Jean Phillips to have their son Roger and two sons (Mark and Ryan) from Pocatello ID here to spend a week during their spring vacation Coming from Myrtle Point Oregon to join the family are their Rosalie Lenahan and son daughter Matthew Best wishes for speedy recoveries to some of the ill amongst us Dorothy Paxton uderwent surgery at the Utah Valley Hospital in Provo on Monday Mar 16 Her brother Shirl Kimball and sister Carol Warner from Cal have been with her Ken and Evelyn Lawson of Kanosh and Pearl Swallow of Meadow visited Dorothy at the hospital and reports that she is a very sick woman Her husband Clark is in the Extended Care at the Fillmore Hospital Clella Watts Fleming is doing quite well following her surgery at the Payson Hospital Helen Rogers was much relieved with the report from her doctor that back surgery wouldn’t be necessary Hopefully the prescribed treatments will do the trick Deep among
