Delta City Library has just received a new art show from the Utah Travel Council and I sure do enjoy it It is located in the library and the city building It delights me to see splashes of color mistures of technique differences of method and varieties of style Many of these pictures pleased my eye and serenaded my soul Many of the prints taught me lessons I had long ago forgotten By coming to see this art show I saw a wide range of talent There is a wood-ctitled “Sentinel” an etching titled “Salt Lake Temple Laying the Capstone” and serigraph titled “Wheat” a collage titled “The Exhibition Hall” a lithograph titled “Huia” an aquatint titled “Chinese Poppies” and oils watercolors pencils and pastels The artists selected have a wide range of interest and use modern and traditional techniques One of my favorites is an oil titled “Antelope Island” by Denis Phillips I like it because it is done in warm colors they being red yellow and orange It’s a modern painting with style It looks like a mirage with the sun in summer I can almost imagine myself standing on Antelope Island looking across the Great Salt Lake and seeing the sun in this perspective The picture shows depth and warmth especially on a cold winter day I guess I should mention the theme It is “Painting and Prints by ContemSaint Artists” These porary artists deal with LDS subject matter in most of the paintings If you’re not Mormon come down anyway and view the art show and witness another perspective of Mormon life It’s great Come see it It will be gone March 10 I think you’ll enjoy it times by
