American Pageant to be held May 30 31 and June 1986 in conjunction with the Miss Utah American Coed Pageant at the Sheraton Inn Salt Lake City Utah The Miss American Pageant is open to girls between the ages of 8 and 12 who are good students Emphasis is placed on the importance of mental alertness achievement in school and performance on stage Each contestant is scored on her application speech or talent presentation personal interview with the judges and appearance on stage The Pageant seeks to recognize of each young the accomplishments lady who enters and help her set goals for the future The winner of the Pageant will receive a cash award of 8500 a Miss Banner State Crown Trophy and flowers She will have her transportation paid to the National Miss American Pageant to be held in Tampa Florida in November They will be married in the Salt Lake Temple on April 4 1986 They will make their home in Deseret Everyone is cordially invited to attend a reception in their honor that night from announced by Calvin W Jeppson senior vice president and manager of the Southern division of First Security Bank of Utah NA Mr Zobell joined First Security in 1984 as a management trainee Following graduation from the program he was named installment loan officer at the bank’s Fillmore office where he served until his current promotion The new Delta bank officer is a graduate of Spanish Fork visiting with them on the weekend Clair Ovcrson Bud Best and Ron Law was in Oak City to attend the fire meeting during the week Ross March 14 a large crowd gathered at the ME Bird Center for a St Patricks Day Dinner and Dance The pot luck dinner was very nice Everyone brought their favorite food and when it was all out on the table it looked like a Thanksgiving feast instead of a pot luck supper After eating all we could hold there was still lots of food left over After dinner we were entertained by a group of young doggers This group of dancers came from the communities in West Millard with Sid Rowley as It was so much fun their instructor watching them dance They are as good as any I’ve seen From 3 years old and up their feet moved in rhythm with the music and not one missed a step wish everyone could have seen them When the doggers finished dancing ere tuned us and the Misfit Orchestra ready to play for us to dance It was good to see the floor filled with ballroom dancers again It seems like a long time since we held a dance We want to thank Jay and Gerry Bunker for planning and organizing the St Patricks party for us It was one of the best we’ve had They put in a lot of time and we do appreciate them A thank you goes to all who brought food and last but not least to all who attended which included a large group from East Millard It’s so good that we can all join together to renew friendships and meet new friends hope we can have another party soon Earl Willden and Rayda Rawlinson were kind enough to entertain us with a musical program last week Earl
