encourage all girls grades out The Millard FHA donated a baby quilt to the Fillmore Community Medical Center to be used for the new babies being born in the hospital The quilt was made by the Millard Janice Zcigler presented a demonstration of candy making using molds and melted chocolates She showed some fun seasonal ideas such as pumpkins candy hearts Christmas tiees and Santas Janice demonstrated some unusual hints for keeping the chocolates at the right lemperatures-heating pad The MHS chapter observed National I HA Week A large poster was put in the hallway (It was altered the following week by an imaginative FFA president to read FFA in place of FHA) Homemade sugar cookies were sold and the proceeds were used to treat all those who wore FHA red and white colors on the following day A quilt was made to be donated to the Tillmore Hospital Mis Ella Vee Turner demonstrated the art of molded sugar She made Christmas tree decorations cathedral bells and sugar eggs The students got to try their skills and learned lots from the ensuing disasters We all learned that this process requires lots of patience and practice to obtain real success at Everyone loves Valentines The delivered carnations to friends sweethearts and the secretly admired The flowers brightened everyones day and inter Millard County State Legislators rupted everyone’s classes Chaos is a lot more fun than the structured learning We are all still wondering about the identity of Kclby’s secret admirer Margene Rowley from the USU Extension Office presented some ideas and recipes for Crock Pot Cooking She made meat loaf apple cobbler and poor man's stew These were practical ideas for today’s busy lifestyles Cheryl Rose led a discussion on Fetal Alcohol Syndiome She showed a video about the effects of Fetal Alcohol Syndrome and distributed a pamphlet concerning this serious problem Education is a major step in the prevention of this condition The FHA officers and members tended a Regional Convention at North Scv ier High School The theme of this convention Control was Weight Workshops were presented and pudding pops and candy bars were the treats An aerobics workshop helped keep everyone’s bodies warm Those attending the convention helped construct six foot long sandwiches that were eaten for lunch State FHA convention is coming up and 12 and will be held in on April Margaret Kessler fHA Two of Millard County’s top were given the opportunity to act as legislative pages for a day at the recent legislative session Margaret Probert daughter of Carl and Gloria Probert Scipio and Jodi Wood daughter of Grant and Norma Wood of Holden had the opportunity of meeting our legislators and talking with them They were assigned to help on the floor of the House of Representatives by delivering mail obtaining signatures FBLA goes to Merrill Lynch On March II the Millard High School FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America) chapter traveled to Salt Lake City for a field trip This field trip the was planned by John Ashman Their destination chapter president was the Merrill Lynch Corporation Members went to learn more about how the stock market works and what being a stock broker includes The students felt they gained much by going on this trip help upfrom designated representatives dating legislative journals with all the bills that were being worked on They met with the governor fot a question and answer period and were taken on an educational tour of the State Capitol Building where all of the rooms and history of the building was explained to them Both girls feel it was a very educational and interesting experience loi them to be involved with the legislator and learn how bills are made into law PTA elections at Fillmore Middle School Elections for the new officers of the PTA at rillmore Middle School will be held April 16 in conjunction with Conferences Becky Brunson this year’s first vice president will automatically become the president
