Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints Shawn graduated from Delta High School in Delta Utah in 1984 He has been working on an oil rig for the Lyman Brothers in Nevada Sandy graduated from Delta High in 1982 and from Stevens Henagcr in 1984 She has been working as a Medical Assistant in Texas and in Delta A joint farewell will be held Jan 19 :50 am at the Leamington Ward at All friends and husband Clyde Waller She has returned home now and repot ts having had a very wonderful time Milden and Arprilla Scow attended Fast and Testimony at Oak City First Ward on Sunday Jan 5 where our great grandson received a blessing and was named He was given the name of Bradley David Steele and was blessed by his father This is David and DeAnn Steele’s first child Proud grandparents are Kent and Sandra Dewsnup Other family members present for this special occasion were great grandpa Grant Finlinson Robert and Cindy Finlinson and children of Oak City Douglas Finlinson and son from Syruse UT Steele from grandpa and grandma Ncphi great grandpa and great grandma Donaldson from Spring City and Darrel Scow and daughter isa from Sandy All enjoyed a delicious dinner at the home of Kent and Sandra's after church Myrtle Western is now at the Delta am sure Community Medical Center she would enjoy visits from friends and relatives We send her our get well wishes Milden and Arprilla Scow visited Tues and Wed at Sandy UT with their son and family Danel and Gaye Scow and 3 children Harry and Helen Bell of Las Vegas NV came up and took Inez Kelly and Ella Christensen to Las Vegas NV to spend the Christmas holidays with their children there Last week they returned home with Dawn Anderson and Betty Kelly On Friday Jim and lone Christensen took their mother Ella Christensen to Provo for a doctor appointment Sincere sympathy is extended to the Memmott family with the passing of their mother Lillie Jensen Memmott She was 86 yrs of age She lived in Oasis for several years Funeral services were held at 4:00 Graveside services and burial were at the Oasis Cemetery She is survived by several children The ones from this area are Mrs Eugene (June) Losee from Sugarville and Berdell Memmott of Oasis I DS Church The House is now completed and on Sunday Jan 12 the first church services were held in it It is really nice and surely hope that both Deseret and Oasis Wards memberships will enjoy it It is hard to leave our old church buildings that we have had for so long but since the flood of 1983 the Deseret Church basement has really been in bad shape The Oasis Church is a newer don’t know where the past year went but I do hope we can all stay well and have a very good year at the ME Bird Center We still have our same good cooks We hope and the food is delicious more of the Senior Citizens will join in the fun things we will be doing in the future Meals are served Tues and Wed at 4 pm and reservations need to be in by 1:30 am Thursday we eat at 12:30 with reservations to be in by 9:30 am Please call in if you plan to come for dinner and bring your own dishes if possible This Wednesday we were happy to have Eldonna Anderson come and play for us on her accordian while we were having dinner We enjoyed the music very much and thank Eldonna very much for coming On Wed Jan 22 we will have an election of officers following dinner It would be greatly appreciated if would come out and cast your everyone vote for those people you would like to have on the board for the coming months Those who are voted in will have a big responsibility and will apThese people preciate begin at 8 pm He was born Jan 23 1896 in IL to Charles C and Willowsprings Hannora Thomas His father was killed when Charlie was 8 years old He attended school until the 4th grade when he quit to go to work driving teams to help support his mother and family He served in World War and was discharged in 1918 In the spring of 1919 he came to Utah with a company that ran draglines He was one of the first five men on the job here to lay 600 miles of tile and build 60 miles of open drain He married Verda Oppenheimer in Nov of 1921 They are the parents of ten children nine of which are living: Eileen Bob Bill (deceased) Jack Bus Pat Jean Jim Dorothy and Betty and 26 grandchildren and 48 great grandchildren Charlie and his wife raised this large family during the depression Farming has been his way of life including 16 years of employment with Ron They moved to “town” in 1962 and he continued to work for various farmers around the area These days he spends his time visiting friends and volleyball players in Hawaii “Koz" suffered a knee injury this year which put him out of the regular playing season for the rest of the year but he is still a very strong prospect for the pros as his
