Derik and Lisa drove from Jackson New Jersey by way of California where he visited his brother and Jim and Mary Lee and Gail’s uncle Bob Gillespie in Harbor City and also some friends LaRue drove from Lolo Montana She stopped in Salt Lake her daughter City and brought Janieee with her Virginia and Roger Ashby came in from Ely Nevada The Burts’ son Darren came and brought his financee' Debbie Garcia with him and John Dorothy VanWagoner came from Price Utah with their children Scott and Stephen Brooke LaRue cooked some salmon for the group that she caught in Canada on her and Larry’s trip there this spring LaRue also brought her video camera and took movies that were so much fun to play back Since it was 10 years since they had been together there was much to talk about Jim was the only one not there and was missed by all Alton and Lorraine Staples with their son and Randy and Kathy and granddaughter Rena spent two joyous weeks in the Olympia and Seattle area where they enjoyed ocean fishing The Staples enjoyed the comforts of their nice big trailer but reports ‘‘There’s no place like home” Jami and Kami Barton daughters of Janet and Roy Barton of Wright Wyoming were met at the SL Airport around the 7th of Aug by their Barton grandparents from Parowan They divided their vacation time between them and their Whitaker in Kanosh grandparents On Aug 24 Willard and Dathel drove them back to Parowan (their old hometown) where they visited again until Aug 28 at which time their Barton grandparents took them to the airport in SLC The beautiful yards and home of Rula and Leavitt Christensen made a lovely setting for the open house held on Thursday Aug 22 honoring their granddaughter Elizabeth Watson Howton and her groom Galen Vern earlier who were married in the day in the Manti LDS Temple It was like a romantic scene you would see in one of the movies when the bride and groom ascended the inside stairs to the balcony with the groom holding the bride's long train just so where she tossed her wedding bouquet to the anxious group of young ladies standing on the outside at Sacrament Guest speakers meeting in the Kanosh Ward on Sunday Aug 25 were the Matt Behunin family who also furnished some musical numbers They occupy Ihurs 5 Sept 1985 the home of George and Velda Behunin while they are serving a mission Guest at the Indian speaker Branch was Ilene Cooper who gave an outstanding talk in spite of the fact that her daughter Gay was buried less than a week before Her efforts were really appreciated She was introduced by her son Johnny Cooper Hope and Orville Kimball have their eldest son enjoyed having Steve and two of his children from St and Jason Stephanie Louis Mo to spend nearly two weeks with them in Kanosh Steve’s wife Tamara and their two daughters Mary Anne and Jennifer weren’t able to come Steve took his daughter Stephanie to Idaho where she enrolled at Ricks College Steve is kept busy in his occupational field as a plant scientist Ruth Levi in company with her Blanche Sandra daughters Amy and Juanita a grandson Shawn and Ruth’s son Cecil and his wife Lorraine drove to the Kaibab Indian Reservation attend to recently funeral services for Ruth’s brother Edwin Drye age 74 It was a lovely A week later LDS funeral Ruth received word of the death of her Glen Drye nephew The family felt that the trip was too far to turn around and go back but felt sorry they couldn't attend Glen’s funeral Mildred Pikyavit was made happy with the news that her William Whitfield of Chandler Arizona who had been taking the was baptizmissionary discussions ed the latter part of Aug He was by President baptized Lloyd P which made the occasion George very special William is the husband of Geri Pikyavit Whitfield in Also attendance among others were Leola George Bishop Ray George and his wife Sharon Tuesday Aug 27 was a special day in the lives of William and Bonnie Crockett who went through the temple for the first time and had their children three Jennifer Casey and Melanie sealed to them The Crocketts completed the Project Temple Seminar with Bishop Jim and Joyce Minton as their instructors Those from Kanosh who joined the Crockett family at the Salt Lake Temple for this beautiful occasion were: Bishop Vernon Christensen and his wife Alice Stan and Sue Koyle Bishop Jim Minton and his wife Joyce Susan and Donny Paxton and John Adams A group from Holden were also in attendance A open house was organized by Susan Paxton with several good helpers which was held Tues evening at the Kanosh Ward Cultural Hall to honor
