argued gossip is aired comradery develops The Outlaw much like the pub offers the same “Every couple of days people check in on us and on Baker” reports Reita “Everyone comes in It’s kind of like a clearing house of information here” People from all over the United States visit and appreciate The Outlaw the Burger family and the other employees There are numerous repeat tourists some of whom go out of their ways to return And there are that report such things as “Being at The Outlaw was the highlight of our vacation” Says Reita “I really appreciate the letters and having people come back to visit us” Particular tention tu the atmosphere and the quality food provided was given in The New York Times USA Today Newsweek The Boston Globe and The Los Angeles Times when reporters were writing stories about Great Basin National Park and the surrounding area is the restaurantbar Running definitely a family affair Chuck cooks and is the “we need” or “fetchum” man Reita tends the customers Marie Burger Jordan is the manager or in her words “the head slave” and her sister Kristy Ferguson works in whatever capacity she is needed (Kristy Grew up in Baker and returned last summer moving from Roosevelt Utah) Nine Katie Ferguson is a waitress on the weekends and her eight dishes washes brother Chris stated “Everybody does everything” Ruth Rerta Long time employee bar tender Franklin and relief George “Goody” Goodman have become part of the family and are much valued and appreciated by the Burgers Open seven days a week The Outlaw oilers all kinds of GOOD food served from at 7 am until around 9 pm Tables a cozy bar and slot machines are in the original room The larger back room also has dining tables a pool table and some video games Parties are held for special occasions such a birthdays and weddings and The Outlaw's Halloween party is an annual event Baker residents reports Reita “ate very supportive And they are our the Park Great Basin National newest park in the United States became a reality in 1987 Now that media attention has been focused on the area more tourists are visiting and Reita commented that the busy season has been extended at the restaurant “It starts earlier and it goes all the way through September” To date the Burgers have never closed The Outlaw’s doors for one day But according to Reita they have plans to start closing for part of the winter “W’e only go through this life once” she explained “Chuck and I want to travel and vacation a little” (Such travels may include a visit with their son and his family in Carson City Nevada David works admits “I have learned to like the desert” Once a friend sent a card to Reita with the message “Bloom where you are planted” After puzzling over the exact meaning Reita talked with the card’s sender
