beginning of the This is school year and “This Is It” the new spirit theme The drill team have been busy and cheerleaders preparing for the new year and intend to start it out The opening assembly under the direction of studentbody social Daniel Cummings will manager feature the Selgaes Starting with the new camp dance the drill team and cheerleaders will perform with pizzaz The cheerleaders will be introducing the spirit stick and the drill team will present a hot new number The Selgaes have been working all summer and are looking forward to a year full of spirit and enthusiasm They would like to wish the football and volleyball teams all success and luck in their upcoming games Working under the able leadership of head cheerleader Kelly Hansen drill team president Polly Ziegler and drill On the evening of July 18 1987 an Eagle Court of Honor was held in North Park in Fillmore for the advancement of 6 Scouts to the rank of Eagle Brian Giles son of Kirby and Rita Giles was presented his Eagle by his Scoutmaster Leon Sylvester who also presented Brian’s Trail to Eagle Brian is a member of Troop 209 and is Timberline trained He has been Patrol Patrol Leader Leader Assistant has attended Scribe Thunderidge Scout Camp has received his Arrow of Light and is a member of the Order of the Arrow For his Eagle Project Brian painted parking spaces in the new extended parking lot at the hospital Travis Gardner is Timberline trained was Patrol Leader and President in his Deacon’s Quorum Travis and other members of his troop tore down the old dance hall in Kanosh cleaned mistress Linda Quarnberg the Selgaes will dance and cheer at all school activities The Selgaes extend a special thanks to Mrs Verlene Phillips and Mrs Judy Greenhalgh for their help and the Palomar in Delta for their annual Cub Scout Day Camp This years theme was “Knights of the Roundtable” As each Pack arrived they were assigned to a den and made up a den yell which they had to give at to that each station as a “password” station To start out the days activities the boys were greeted personally by King Arthur Following the opening ceremonies the boys rotated around to the different stations They played “Kick the Dragon” (kickball) visited the ‘‘tannery” where they did leather tooling on a neckerchief slide practiced their skills in archery and jousting and found out what it was like to be a Cub Scout many years ago They attended an “Olde Tyme Faire” where and they practiced their hammer pounding skills they visited “Ye Olde Print Shoppe” where they Cub Scouts of camp with them and supported their efforts They are looking forward to a great new year School The Millard High returned from USA Cheerleaders Cheer camp after a successful four days Besides learning how to build enthusiasm and spirit for school activities cheer squad brought home the Welcome back to school dance Thanks extended would like to The DHS acknowledge some important people The extend their thanks to the businesses around Delta which bought ads for our community calendar and to the townspeople who purchased these calendars The calendars are due back in early fall We’d also like to thank the businesses who allowed their clothing to be modeled in our fashion show we always appreciate Nonetheless everyone who supports these events We especially thank the moms who donate their time and money for the fund raisers we put on various throughout the year The money made off the fund raisers helps to buy new uniforms A special thanks to everyone who You are the supports appreciated A obstacle course and run through it and they went on a “Knightly Quest” where they learned many interesting things about nature and the world around us During lunch break everyone was entertained at a magic show by Merlin the Magician To end out the day a big catapult was brought out and water balloons were catapulted at the boys They tried to catch them without getting all wet!
