Show Pgt 6 Millard County USPS Thurs Nov 22 Fourth grade field trip 1984 School news This past week parent teacher conferences were held We appreciate the parents suppirt and attendance which help benefit the overall education and of our students A school book fair was held Nov in conjunction with National Book Week Many books were purchased and we would like to thank Mr our media center coorChapman dinator for setting up and running the book fair A school assembly was held Nov 20 in which the Springville High Acapella Choir performed for our students May everyone enjoy a safe and happy Thanksgiving holiday H Delta South PTA news Nedra Jackson Teacher spotlight Cookbooks are now being distributed for those of you who purchased them We would like to thank for their support the community Enough was earned from this fund3 sets of enraiser to purchase Mrs for our school cyclopedias Nielson’s 3rd grade class received an ice cream party for having the best response of parents having read the formation that was sent home Also one lucky student will be Vice Principal for the day This will be chosen by a name drawing for those who brought back signed parent slips If you need ideas for Christmas-thThe ones PTA is still selling from last year are being sold at a discount price of $300 and the Coyote Kids logo will be on the new ones Also the safety kids tapes would make excellent presents Please contact the school office or PTA President if interested More volunteers are still needed at in the media our center You need not be a parent to be a volunteer Anyone in the community is invited to help in this worthwhile endeavor & share your time and talents with our school Thanks! Nedra Jackson is also a Delta native and is married to Lon Jackson part owner of the Jackson Dairy They have four children 18 Joni Mike 15 Brooks 12 and Ryan 10 Mrs Jackson graduated from BYU and has taught in the Provo area and at the old Hinckley and Oak City schools All of her experience has been in kindergarten Mrs Jackson enjoys working in her yard and singing with the Bluenotes She is learning to appreaciate football because all of her boys are active in the sport When asked what she enjoys most about teaching Kindergarten Mrs Jackson “I really enjoy replied Kindergarten because the children are so eager to learn and so enthusiastic about life” Mrs Jackson’s son is Michael Jackson he is unfortunatly only famous in Sutherland A hummingbird a walnut nest is the size of 9® MHS NEWS The following two aricles were written by 4th grade students at Delta South Elementary This field trip was a very memorable and educational one for all the students Fouth grade field trip by Heath Pehrson Mrs Domingo’s and Miss Barney’s classes went to BYU on November 2 We saw a pendulum Anecoic Chamber and Aquariums The pendulum was pretty neat It would move just a little bit each time The Anecoic Chamber was neat too It was a room covered with fiberglass and a floor made of wire in the middle of it and they do sound experiments in it Then we saw aquariums The aquariums had catfish starfish snails and other marine life Then we went to a people and culture building and saw pottery ancient symbols a Polynesian totem pole and Indian jewelry and lots of other things too It was fun at BYU Fourth grade field trip by Randi Johansen Friday October 26 the 4th graders of Delta South Elementary School went on a field trip to BYU Some of the places we went to are: The Bean Museum and the Eyring Science Building The Bean Museum had stuffed animals a children’s place where you could touch animals and other things and live animals also We saw a boa constrictor a box turtle and a lizard The Eyring Science Building has a sound room with walls of fiberglass a pendulum and fish There were lizards snakes skeletons bats bison lions sheep and many others In the sound room you had a plate and a bow like the one used with a violin and some salt You sprinkle salt across the plate and draw the bow across the plate and the salt would make different designs We all had a very good time students received free RIF books The federally sponsored program allows children to receive a free paperback book of their choice Munk the school’s Chip R presided over the reading mascot event in the Fillmore Elementary in Students room every class from kindergarten to 4th grade came to choose a paperback book from the hundreds of different titles available Students had a hard time choosing between such titles as ‘‘Silver Eyes” "Tikki Tikki "Where the Wild Things Are” and many many more RIF is an acronym for Reading Is Holiday Cheers af Fillmore but Elementary most students will agree that RIF means Reading Is Fun Students had been looking forward to the distribution of free books since it last Chip R Munk announced week The enthusiasm was high as students came to select their
