Show Page 10 - Millard County USPS s Thurs Sept 27 1984 Harvest Ball to be a real whopper By Evelyn Mallet Who is to say their Rhodri who played “Back Invention No 8” on the piano will not be another Van Clibum someday Then those who weren’t there last Friday night to hear him won’t be able to say “1 knew him” or “I heard him in at the Senior Citizen Center This will be the last chance to tell about the coming “Harvest Oct 5 7:30 pm at in Center Valley Fillmore There will be people from Gunnison Manti coming Richfield and Delta so you East - come out Millard County Seniors and bring some friends and support this function It’s for your fun and benefit and we all do have a great time when we get together for a dance and socializing This writer has been to a couple of Senior Citizen dances in Manti and can tell you those people really turn out in full force and dance They put some young and middle aged people to shame with their enthusiasm and vigor They really have a good time There will be an excellent floor show at the Harvest Ball A group will be coming from Sanpete and Sevier Counties called the “Sage Brush Swingers” much in demand for their skill and expertise in Square Dancing Besides them there will be a couple of other little surprises and of course the costume parade Our distinguished judges will be two of our county commissioners Leigh Maxfield and Harold Stewart and Fillmore’s editor of the Chronicle Progress Marge Barton There will be 1st 2nd and 3rd place prizes Remember given for best costumes you don’t have to come in costume or even dance Just come and sit and watch But we promise the music of the Meadow Misfits Band will make you want to get out and dance Some time ago when the plight of the Heber Creeper railroad train was made known Senior Citizen Center of East Millard County people decided to try to help by buying a railroad tie as per a television newscast this spring Their collection total was pretty meager and they decided to set it aside and ask again from time to time Two kindhearted people of Fillmore heard of our effort and wrote a check for the fund in memory of their parents who loved the Heber Creeper and its purpose We thank them for their contribution and hope it will and thoughtfulness be an incentive for others to help swell our fund We’ll let you know when we have the full $50 Several people have indicated they are interested in attending the BYU Drama Pardoe Theatre or the Arena Theatre seasons Margetts There are two plays coming up in October: “Missalliance” - matinee Oct 29 at 4:30 and the play “All My Sons” - matinee Oct 15 at 4:30 pm The sign up sheets are at the Center Whichever one fills up first will be the one we attend There doesn’t seem to be much to say about last Friday night except how disappointed we all were that came to our not more people nd to hear birthday potluck dinner and see the Carl Purcell family from Those that were Manti perform there know what a fine performance they gave - surely future material for first class entertainers Though the people who come to our Center us are to entertain they are certainly not professionals to us as important guests who are doing their best for us Who are we that we need feel we must either have first class or just not attend? needs of specific handicapping conditions to handicapped services available children and their families in Utah and Federal and State laws and regulations that affect these families Project staff are compiling this information into a series of pamphlets for parents and other interested professionals of USD A disaster emergency loans Millard County is eligible for USDA disaster emergency loans advises Kyle Stephens of the Utah Department of Agriculture President Ronald Reagan declared a major disaster in the State of Utah based on losses caused by flooding mudslides and landslides this spring This makes emergency loans available to Utah farmers with qualfying losses Stephens says Loans are available through the Farmers Home Administration (FmHa) Those farmers who are unable to obtain credit elsewhere may apply for reduced interest loans for up to 80 percent of their production losses up to $500000 For the first $100000 the interest rate is 5 percent and it is 8 percent on funds over $100000 If credit can be obtained elsewhere and they decide to apply for FmHA loans the terest rate is 1375 percent The deadline for application has been extended until April 17 1985 However farmers who think they are eligible for assistance should contact their FmHA office for applications as soon as possible for quicker processing and check delivery Stephens indicated that
